A Meeting of the Minds
The 4th Report in the "Songwriters in the New Millennium" Series

FREE DOWNLOAD

Mi2N.com, the online music community's largest business news provider, and music industry e-Journal, MusicDish, hosted the "Songwriter Panel" at the Nashville New Music Conference (2NMC) 2001. The panel, moderated by Anne M. Freeman, Associate Editor of MusicDish.com and president of The Aspiring Songwriter, featured professional songwriters and songwriting teachers Jason Blume, Barbara Cloyd, Kim Copeland, Gary Talley and Susan Tucker.

Each had contributed essays to the Songwriters In The New Millennium series, a set of free downloadable reports analyzing an on-line songwriter survey conducted by MusicDish in this past spring of 2001. Through their own real world experience as industry veterans, the panelists tackle such disturbing results as the fact that anywhere from 30% to over 50% of the 584 surveyed songwriters are not utilizing the many resources and services, both traditional and new media, available to them to help them further their careers. The report also opens into a Q&A on subjects ranging from song contests, song critiquing services, artistic integrity, rewriting process.

The report was made possible through the support of these leading firms: Windrift Music, sponsor and host of the 2002 Songwriting Competition; USA Songwriting Competition, leading songwriting competition; and cdstreet, a secure e-commerce solution provider for today's indie artists.
