Long Island, NY -- April 14th 2003 The Hard Beat
Funk band Rainbow Trout is returning to De La Luz at Temple Ball
Gallery in Carrboro, NC on Friday, May 9th 2003. The New York Sextet
is touring in support of its independently released self-titled
debut CD. The album, which contains 9 original tracks, is a soulful
recording laden with sophisticated influences such as funk, jazz,
and tribal folk.
De La Luz will be one stop on Rainbow Trout’s upcoming
tour, which will take them all the way to Key West, FL on Memorial
Day weekend. The new music club is quickly becoming popular hosting
the most eclectic mix of music and art in the Chapel Hill area.
Attendees of a Rainbow Trout show are treated to original songs
with extended jams as well as classic funk. James Brown himself
has been known to make an appearance when the proper circumstances
arise (at least in statue form). Rainbow Trout also delves into
experimental improvisation using audio samples from films such
as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and The Big Lebowski as catalysts
for musical adventure.
No strangers to the rigors of the road Rainbow Trout have been
a backing band for a diverse range of artists including Leo Nocentelli
(guitarist for the classic New Orleans funk band The Meters)
and the multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby. While working with
former RCA recording artist Robin Andre, Rainbow Trout opened
for such luminaries as the Dave Matthews Band and Wyclef Jean.
Catch Rainbow Trout live at De La Luz at Temple Ball on May
9th and take home their fresh new CD.
