MusicDish Associate Writer Steven Digman is a Music Spotlight and Open Reviews contributor. The multitalented Digman draws upon his songwriting, publishing, musicianship, and producing experience for his writing. Read his insightful review of Jennifer Cutting's new CD in the Open Review column.

An accomplished songwriter, Digman’s "Anniversary Song" and "Easy Street Dream" from the album Time After Time, and "Say Goodbye" from Eva By Heart, were written and published for songbird Eva Cassidy, who tragically died of cancer. Cassidy’s album's have been certified double platinum in the UK, and are well on their way to triple platinum sales, ensuring that his songs are exposed to a far-reaching audience. Recently, his songs have been printed in Warner Brothers songbooks of Eva Cassidy material.

Digman’s song, "Say Goodbye," which was co-written by Andy Hernandez, appears in the feature film "The Man From Elysian Fields." The film was released in October 2002 and stars Andy Garcia and Mick Jagger.

Recently, 4 x Platinum Artist Katie Melua released for the second time Digman’s "Anniversary Song" on a new DVD called Katie Melua On the Road Again. http://www.katiemelua.com/video.htm

Catering to film and television supervisors, Digman's Violin & Publishing Company offers a one stop shopping approach to music licensing; thereby enabling the user to acquire both the music publishing and recorded music rights in one simple transaction.

Steven is the proprietor of Digman's Violin and Publishing Company located in Funkstown, Maryland, where he rents violins and gives guitar lessons. He has extensive professional experience in the traditional art of violin repair and restoration, as well as repairing and restoring classical string instruments.

More recently, Digman donned the producer’s hat after launching his own record company with partner Michele Howard, Funkstown Records, in 2003. Guided by mentor and friend Bill Straw of Blix Street Records, Funkstown Records has secured distribution and is launching a new project for

Maryland-based artist Janine Davy’s new recording, Looking for You. From ballads and folk standards, to sultry blues, to no-holds-barred rock and roll, the recording features Janine’s vocal range and diversity in styling. The release date for Looking for You is October 24, 2005. Look for a review of Looking for You in the next issue of MusicDish.

Steven Digman and Matt Walraven (U.S. Patent No. 6,280,654) are the inventor of luminous violin rosin, the material violinists use to coat their violin bow so that it provides the friction needed to vibrate the strings while playing. The rosin is a luminescent compound comprising an admixture of rosin and a luminescent glow pigment and methods for its use are disclosed. The luminescent glow pigment conveys a "glow in the dark" quality to the compound providing a rosin that retains its physical properties and gains the ability to be seen in little or no light. The "glow in the dark" rosin may be used for both aesthetic and practical purposes where conventional rosins are employed, and in other ways where the properties of a rosin that may be seen in the dark are desirable.

"Sherman's Bow Glow Rosin", is manufactured and distributed by Dodson's Manufacturing, and is now available in music retail stores. For direct online purchase please visit Nashville Violins or Concord Music Supplies .

Finally, the multitalented Digman is a poet and has published several volumes of poetry, “The Art of Women,” “The Art of Witchful Thinking,” and “The Art of God.”
