New York and China's Top Psychedelic Bands Collaborate On Tour
With two top bands from opposite sides of the world joining forces for a psychedelic fest, this tour is one that cannot be missed
This November, Psychic Ills, known as "New York's Best psych-rock Band", will be bringing their unique sound to major cities in China. Chui Wan, China's own top experimental sound, will be joining them on this tour, bringing their own chilled-out sounds to the mix.
These two grade A psych-rock bands will begin their tour on November 16 in Beijing. They will travel across China, stopping in Suzhou, Hangzhou, Kunshan, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao. With two top bands from opposite sides of the world joining forces for a psychedelic fest, this tour is one that cannot be missed.
Formed in 2003, Psychic Ills quickly gained recognition in the underground scene for their mind-altering sounds. By constantly bending genres and pushing musical limits, their style continues to evolve and influence the New York indie scene. From minimal buzzes to insane freak-outs, Psychic Ills use their music to take their fans on a true acid journey. With the release of Hazed Dream in 2011, the band solidified its status as the New York psych-rock band.
China's own four-piece experimental group, Chui Wan, on the other hand, takes the term "experimental" to a whole other level. Their name is inspired by Daoist philosopher Zhuangzhi's quote, "When the wind blows, every sound may be heard therein." This philosophy drives their music, which is well-known for its improvisational bursts and chilled-out sounds. Chui Wan enjoys bringing different instruments to the mix and are known to blend the sounds of guitar, keyboard, viola and an assortment of random samples. The band will also release their debut album White Night to coincide with this tour.
