Switch Continues Commitment To Live Mandarin Music In Singapore
Switch presents two acclaimed indie bands WonFu and Tizzy Bac from Taiwan this fall
In a market saturated with venues presenting mostly English live music acts, Singapore livehouse Switch has carved out a niche presenting the best of both – English and Mandarin music – worlds.
With a great start to the year, having seen several full houses for musicians like Olivia Ong, Chou Pi Jiang, Liang Wen Yin and Cosmos People, there is no doubt that there is an increasing demand from Singaporean audiences for Mandarin live music programming.
Switch announced that it will present two acclaimed indie bands WonFu 旺福 And Tizzy Bac from Taiwan this September and November. WonFu will be sharing their well-known surf rock and retro vibe with Singapore audiences on Wednesday, September 11th, while Tizzy Bac, a force to reckon with in the Taiwanese independent music scene, will perform on Wednesday, November 6th.
Chief Creative Director of Timbre Group, Danny Loong says, "Seeing the crowds who turned out at recent events, we are eager to keep up our programming pace. To satisfy our ardent supporters, we will continue to focus and be committed to finding the right quality acts to build up a bigger and more vibrant Mandarin live music culture in Singapore. We have even begun looking towards Malaysia and Hong Kong to gather their crop of good Mandarin-singing talents as well."
