MusicDish announced that its signed Taiwanese EDM acts RED/红乐团 and DJ Code are slated to perform at the 2014 Sound of Xity. Held in Beijing from April 3 to April 6, Sound of the Xity is a yearly event that dedicates itself to promoting the joint development of the Chinese and Western music industries through the promotion of international showcases, panels, and networking. Musicians representing the dialogue between East and West were all chosen based on prior experience with renowned music festivals and institutions. DJ Code will be spinning at Temple on April 4, while RED will be performing at Yugong Yishan on April 5. MusicDish LLC signed RED for international management and development earlier this year due to the way they embody a harmonious fusion between music from the East and West by blending a variety of electronic styles with traditional Chinese influences. The band's marriage of genres, such as house and drum Ďn' bass, with traditional Chinese instruments like the erhu and guzheng is fronted by DJ Code, Shao Shih, and Pierre Hujoel, all of whom bring something unique to this collaboration. RED's progressive brand of artistry has netted them multiple invitations to perform at clubs and prestigious music festivals, both mainland and overseas. Notable appearances include the Spring Scream's Moonlight Carnival Party, China's Qingdao International Music Festival and Chengdu Zebra Music Festival, Russia's r.Asia Festival, and Malaysia's WE LOVE ASIA Festival. The band's lead single "Olive Tree" also garnered a Goldie Indie Music Award nomination for Best Electronic track and they notably featured as the opening act for US house band Late Night Alumni's sold out concert in Taipei.
DJ Code functions not only as RED's leader, but also a multitalented producer, recording and mixing engineer, and composer, as well as one of Taiwan's top DJs. His single "Buddha" from his debut EP in 2009 rose to the top 50 downloads of Beatport, the world's largest DJ music store. In addition, he has collaborated with many top brands, such as BMW, Lexus, Audi, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and Louis Vitton. Recently, Love Da Records released his official remix of the single "Almost Home" from Moby's album "Innocents". DJ Code will be spinning for the 2014 Louis Vuitton Jewelry VIP Launch Party on 3/14 in Taipei.
