Following the success of its artistic journey in 2013, the Beijing Music Day is back in 2014 with many free concerts in Gulou. The novelty this year is an outdoors concert for the 50th anniversary of the Sino-French relations!
The Beijing Music Day, a tradition that lives on
The Beijing Music Day is now on its 3rd edition.
Celebrated since 2012, it has attracted to Beijing a quickly conquered public with 6,000 participants every year.
Professional musicians, amateur musicians or simply music fans, all of them meet on the 21st of June to enjoy free music events across the Gulou area.
One day, two big events
On Saturday the 21st of June from 2 to 8 pm, a multicultural concert featuring 6 artists will open the festivities at 2 Kolegas. 1000 people are expected to attend the show. Among the artists will play some of our favourites artists such as冬子Dongzi and Fusha 浮砂 and Zhang San 张 思安.
The other event is similar as what was accomplished the previous years, that is to say a whole lot of free shows in about 30 venues around the Gulou area. People can walk from one show to another, discovering great venues and artists of all styles during a day of fun.
A special programme for the 50th anniversary of the Sino-French relations
The Beijing Music Day brings once again the best live stages of the city together: Modernista, XP, 2 Kolegas are some among many. Mao Livehouse will welcome the French indie-electro duo Mein Sohn William. Beijing Music Day will also give well known or lesser known Chinese artists the opportunity to perform such as茉茉天空, 图娜拉, Ajinai or 佳妮乐队.
We are also happy to have new venues participating this year such as East Shore Live Jazz Café, 2012, The Other Place, or the Snail Hostel.
The event is organized by the JCEF of Beijing – Jeune Chambre Economique des Français de Pékin - and is supported by the French Embassy in Beijing, Le Coq Sportif, the Alliance Française. We also appreciate our sponsors web marketing agency THEM, Beijing Sideways, Beijing Hikers, Hummingbird Spa, The Hutong, Temple Restaurant Beijing, and Capital M, who all contribute to the magic of this great event.
Insert : When "Music" goes with "fun and magic" !
Beijing Music Day is a music event but it's also fun activities such as a photo contest and free rides in sidecars in Beijing !
Ready, steady? ... Smile !
The long-awaited game of the Beijing Music Day is back. This time, a photograph contest with prizes to win will be launched one month before the D-Day. The winners will have the opportunity to enjoy membership cards from The Hutong, beauty packages from the Hummingbird Spa, vouchers from the Beijing Hikers and bottles of wine from Temple Restaurant.
Participants only have to take an original picture of themselves in link with the theme "Free Music", and post it on the social networks with a comment about how they feel about music, and linking to our Weixin or Weibo accounts (see QR codes). A jury will vote for the winners and give them the prizes during the Beijing Music Day after-party to which they will be invited !
