Brittney Cleary - I.M. Me
Artist: Brittney Cleary (www.BrittneyCleary.com)
Title: I.M. Me
Genre: Pop
They keep getting younger. This time it starts at age
12, where a little thing with a big voice has been
holding the internet music community for ransom with
her 'I.M. Me' single. For stupid people, that stands
for Instant Messenger, a pop-up chat program that
allows talking via typing. It's getting harder and
harder to be illiterate in this world when
conversations are coming more in the form of asdf jkl;
than knowing the area code.
She doesn't look 12, but Brittney's lavishly produced
single certainly will speak to those pre-teens who
keep downloading the song from the web. It's a very
pop and catchy 1st release that will only be one of
many hits, to be sure. However, this 4 minute
synth-induced dance kinda track isn't for the populace
at large, since most of the world not yet aol-hooked
will not understand these lyrics: 'TTYL / No time to
spell / Oops, there goes that little bell / Bye, bye
for now / BBFN.' Though she does a good job explaining
as she goes along. Still, this is a song for those
quickly-growing-up girls already in the know.
'When my producers asked me what I wanted my first
single to be about, I knew right away I wanted to sing
about talking to my girlfriends online' says Ms.
Cleary. It's a fun and funny song that, like Debbie
Gibson before her, will only serve to entice listeners
to grope for her upcoming album. More powerpuff to ya,
Brittney!
