When Robin Mink Sings, Love Flows Forth
At first glance, Robin Mink looks like a ball of energy. Well, its true, she is. Her music and attitude are a direct reflection of what is on the outside and inside. She is beautiful person that comes jumping out at you through her powerful vocals. I found her music to be warm and inviting as well as invigorating and affirmative. Eclectic is the best way to describe her approach to music, well, in fact, everything. She has an open mind and heart and the music is the recipient of that attitude.

Looking back at her history as a singer, she started when she was a little tike in grade school when she would get up in front of the class and sing. Even then, she was compelled to entertain and express herself in a manner so infectious and loving that it would have been difficult to discourage her from that part of her development as a child and becoming a budding pop star. Her family encouraged her at gatherings to sing and she had a cousin that played guitar and sang Peter, Paul & Mary tunes. As she grew, her attraction to music did. She was fascinated with prolific artists such as Dylan, Cohen, and Joni Mitchell.
"I didn't write my first song until I was about seventeen. I'm not one of those people who carries a journal around constantly writing. I do like to believe in what I sing, so I guess I was driven by an internal force. I believe songs are mantras and I struggle to write something important and hip at the same time."
Forward to the present day, her most recent work, "More To Love," says it all. Mink is not your typical artist, she surely is more to love than the average individual that goes into the studio and creates music. Having so much to offer the people she knows and works with, and her fans, give her a cannot-lose-combination that keeps her at the top of her game.
If more people in music, or life in general for that matter, were like Robin Mink the world would be a better place. Once again, I have found a person that has so much more to them than just their music. Listen to this woman sing, everything is right inside the music just waiting for you to find it.
Album Review: More To Love
"...this project was like my 'Master's thesis.' Instead of killing the tracks by trying to nail each note and rhythm absolutely perfect, I began to hear what works and what didn't and not question why. I thought 'does it make my hair stand up? Yes? Then I've achieved my goal. I feel as if I've gone through the tunnel of learning and come out the other side with my true self in tact."
Robin Mink is "More To Love" than your ordinary pop icon. She sings like a woman that has a full life with a meaning and purpose. A lot of us are not so fortunate to find where we fit into the grand scheme of things…not a problem for this girl. Just look at that face on the cover of this CD, does she look worried to you or unsure of herself? I see nothing but the joy of her artistry coming through in her smile. Her music and voice smiles in unison with her heart on all five songs found on this robust and lushly produced EP. Elements of rock, jazz, and pop abound as Mink takes you down her "Rosy Path" of musical treasures. Although this may be a short EP, each song is a hefty helping of her gifted vocals and instrumentation clocking in with nothing less than three minutes on each track.

After looking at the credits I immediately recognized Rick Latham's name. He is the very talented jazz drummer that is part of her tight rhythm section. You are more than likely to come up with a winning combination when you surround yourself with pros like Latham.
Everyone in the band contributes equally while allowing Mink's voice to be the main instrument in each song, which is the focal point of this project. All facets of the musical process blend in quite nicely in an upbeat and positive way to encourage camaraderie amongst the contributors.
