Farzad - Mirror of Emotions Amity Records
Artist: Farzad (www.farzadmusic.com)
Title: Mirror of Emotions
Label: Amity Records
Genre: Instrumental Pop
In order for the violin to have a place in the real & future world, it will have to adapt. It's
been slow in coming, but with the help of people like Farzad, it comes. His Mirror of
Emotions cd establishes a cool jazz world where anything is possible. Those with brains
Make it possible. When I hear the incredibly night-brilliant sounds of 'Santa Fe Nights' it
makes me want to crawl under a table somewhere in an eastern state and stay there
until all nights and snows pass. The smooth jazz that bleeds out of the backing
instruments (keys, guitar, subtle, snapping rhythms) eggs on the violin to more than its
normal power away from the symphony orchestra.
'I don't believe in musical limitations,' says Farzad. 'I don't care what style music is if it is
good. In the classical field I was always a rebel because I was never comfortable
listening to just one type of music.' And it shows.
1. Searching
2. Thinking of You
3. Santa Fe Nights
4. Fight of the Lovers
5. Dádiva (The Gift)
6. Conversation
7. Come Be With Me
8. Fiesta
9. Why?
10. Farewell
After 44 minutes, there will be little which can stop you from listening again. The cd is
very romantic, with quite a Latin pop feel to it. In fact, Farzad's family had settled in
South America, which is where his love for the Latin genre reached fever pitch. Now he's
giving back to the rhythms that steamed his glasses originally.
When he was 6 he began taking violin lessons from his uncle. A lifetime later, Farzad
has mastered more than just the strings. The mood he sets with a wealth of background
sounds would make this disc accessible to even the most hard-hearted of lovers. There
is majesty here. A bit of magic. And a whole lot of passionate sawing.
