Bernard Max Resnick Appointed As Law Professor
Bernard Max Resnick, Esquire has been appointed as a Lecturer in Law of the Faculty of the Villanova University School of Law. He will teach a course in entertainment law, beginning in the 2015 academic year.
Also, Mr. Resnick recently served as a judge at the Eastern Coast Regional section of the 2014 IP LawMeet moot court competition, held at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Additionally, Mr Resnick presented a "Legislative Roundup" of current entertainment law legislative and judicial developments for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's Continuing Legal Education program titled "Entertainment Law in the 21st Century", held in Philadelphia, PA and simulcast throughout Pennsylvania.
Further, Mr. Resnick was recently elected to be a member of the Nominating Committee of the Philadelphia Chapter of The Recording Academy ("Grammy" awards). He already serves as a member of the Chapter's Board of Governors, and he is the Co-Chair of the Chapter's Classical Music and Advocacy Committees.
Sherrill Milnes Named Stage Director Of Don Giovanni Production At Mozart's Estates Theatre, Prague
Classical Movements is pleased to present a brand new young artist program for both instrumentalists and singers, debuting this summer in Prague. The Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival will premiere in the beautiful and historic city of Prague for concerts and opera performances, including four fully staged performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni under the stage direction of opera legend Sherrill Milnes and conductor John Nardolillo of the University of Kentucky School of Music.
These performances, using the famous 1991 production, sets and costumes of the Czech National Theatre, will be held in the Estates Theatre in Prague, where Don Giovanni was premiered under Mozart's baton in 1787. The Estates Theatre is the only remaining theater in the world where Mozart conducted. Participants in the program will live in the heart of historic Prague, and rehearse daily at the Czech National Theatre and the Estates Theatre.
Universal Music Publishing Group Names Former BMI Senior Executive Richard Conlon Special Advisor On Performing Rights
Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced it has entered into an agreement with Richard Conlon, former Senior Vice President - Corporate Strategy, Communications & New Media for Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), for his services as a Special Advisor on Performing Rights.
Reporting to Michael J. Sammis, UMPG EVP Operations and CFO, and David Kokakis, SVP/Head of Business & Legal Affairs and Business Development, Mr. Conlon will be counseling the company on matters related to advocating, protecting and maximizing the value of performing rights on behalf of UMPG and its songwriters.
Music Group Appoints Karan Kathuria To The Post Of Senior Manager, Professional Division For Asia Pacific
Music Group has appointed Karan Kathuria to the post of Senior Manager, Professional Division for Asia Pacific, which includes the key business segments of China and India. Karan will report to Graham Rowlands, who heads Global Sales for the Professional Division.
In his new role, Karan will be responsible for growing the Music Group's Professional Division brands Midas, Klark Teknik and Turbosound, as well as taking an active role in managing the distribution networks across multiple countries in APAC region.

John Allen Appointed President Of New West Records And New West Independent Music Publishing
Veteran music industry executive John Allen has been appointed President of notable independent label New West Records, New West Independent Music Publishing and its developing artists imprint, Normaltown Records. Allen joins New West from BMG Chrysalis where he was Vice President. He will open New West's first Nashville office, bolstering its offices in Los Angeles and Athens, Ga.
Allen has more than two decades of industry experience and brings an extensive knowledge of music publishing, rights management, licensing, songwriting and A&R expertise. As Vice President of BMG Chrysalis he led the Nashville office and worked with artists across many genres, helping to make the company the fourth-largest music publisher in the world.
