Miami Label Southbeat Records Signs Super-Producer Jim Jonsin As Equity Partner And Executive VP Of A&R
With successes like Pretty Ricky's "Grind With Me" and "Your Body, Twista's "Girl Tonite, Trina's "Here We Go," and Jamie Foxx's "Unpredictable" burning up the airwaves, Miami label SouthBeat Records is banking on producer Jim Jonsin's ear, both on the boards and in the boardroom, to take their current roster (J-Shin, Wrekonize, Rayito and Mayday!) and future signings to that next level by utilizing his production services and bringing him in-house as an equity partner and executive. Jim's first projects out of the gate will be former Slip & Slide R&B crooner J-Shin, whose sophomore album can be expected in Spring of '06. His new single, "If I Fall In Love," produced by Jim, will be going for radio adds January '06.
J-Shin has already begun his re-emergence with the internet release of an "uncut" music video for his single "Baby Mama Drama," which reached 1.5 million downloads in a matter of weeks. J-Shin, whose debut album My Soul, My Life sold 200,000 units with its nearly gold single One Night Stand, cannot say enough about working with Jim. "Jim has an incredible ear and I feel like he really understands my style and the message I want to get across with my music." He enthuses, "I think my fans will be just as excited as I am once they've heard our collaborations. They ain't ready for this."
Jim, whose successes also include tracks with Miami natives Trick Daddy and Pitbull, had this to say about this most recent career move, "In a long tough career, it's very refreshing to come across people who share my vision, passion and ethics. These are some real people here at SouthBeat and I am in it for the long haul." SouthBeat CEO, Gregory Frankel continues, "With veteran production from Jim and the talent SouthBeat has under its belt, the upcoming year looks promising."
