Linda A. Newmark Promoted To Executive Vice President, Universal Music Publishing Group
Linda A. Newmark has been promoted to executive vice president, acquisitions and strategic projects for Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), it was announced by David Renzer, the company's Chairman and CEO. Most recently, Ms. Newmark served as senior vice president, acquisitions for UMPG. In this new role, Ms. Newmark will expand her role overseeing the acquisition of rights in musical compositions and promoting the general business development of the company.
At UMPG, Ms. Newmark has been involved in the acquisition of numerous music publishing catalogues including: Rondor Music International, Inc., Def Jam Music, the country music catalogues of Pat Alger, Millhouse Music and Sheddhouse Music, as well as the catalogues of Jimmy Webb, Grace Jones and Judy Collins. Furthermore, Ms. Newmark has been responsible for signing various writers, including agreements with Heart, The BANGLES, George Thorogood, Stephen Bishop, The Baha Men, producer Bill Bottrell, David Benoit, Russ Freeman (of The Rippingtons) and film composer Mason Daring. She has also been involved in structuring numerous key agreements for UMPG, as well as for The Leonard Bernstein Music Publishing Company, LLC (which is co-owned by UMPG). Ms. Newmark will continue to report to David Renzer.
