MP3.com Co-Founder Michelle Robertson Joins Musicane
Musicane, provider of market-leading commerce solutions for digital content creators, announced today that Michelle Robertson has joined the firm as chief marketing officer (CMO). She will oversee strategic marketing outreach programs aimed at providing stakeholders, including artists, record labels and content aggregators, with a compelling digital storefront solution, while simultaneously growing the company's customer base.
Musicane's agnostic commerce solution empowers rights holders and content aggregators alike with their storefront solution, which features a powerful set of commerce and marketing tools to offer digital downloads for purchase directly from their own web sites.
"We are delighted Michelle has joined our company at a time when so much opportunity abounds and billions of downloads are taking place," said Sudhin Shahani, CEO of Musicane. "Our solution was built specifically with artists and labels in mind. Matching our technological prowess with Michelle Robertson's proven experience makes for a powerful combination."
Michelle Robertson has been at the vanguard of the digital music revolution from its inception. Prior to joining Musicane, she advanced MP3.com's artist marketing efforts, which captured news headlines with the precedent-setting business model of empowering independent artists to embrace the Internet and sell their music globally. Ms. Robertson expanded the artist roster to approximately 300,000 artists prior to the company being acquired by Vivendi-Universal.
"I am thrilled to be joining Musicane at this stage of the digital music revolution, which we ignited with the launch of MP3.com in 1997. I look forward to bringing my wealth of experience to Musicane and showing artists how to better position themselves to be in the business of music," said Robertson.
