Brian L. Wheat Joins Auralex Acoustics As Director Of Marketing

Veteran musician and sales/marketing professional Brian L. Wheat has been appointed to the newly created position of director of marketing with Auralex Acoustics. The announcement was made recently by David Harbison, the company's managing director.

Wheat will be responsible for the development of overall integrated marketing strategy including brand building, new product launches, marketing communications, public relations, artist relations, and new media projects on the web as well as other forms of e-communications. Auralex Acoustics is the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions. Their products enjoy widespread use among many prominent artists, producers, engineers and corporations alike.

"With Brian's outstanding track record in sales and marketing, he was a natural choice to lead our product marketing efforts," said Harbison. "The fact that Brian is a musician who plays guitar is a real plus for us since he has first-hand knowledge of how important the right acoustics are to musicians."

Wheat has more than 20 years experience in sales, marketing, and product development and is also a musician, playing both guitar and bass. Prior to joining Auralex Acoustics, he was founder of Market-Driven, a professional services firm focusing on the development and launch of new products. In this role, he consulted with small and large companies that included Delta Faucet and Roche Diagnostics.

Before Market-Driven, Wheat held various sales/marketing positions that ultimately led him to become the vice president of marketing/product management at Made2Manage Systems, a high tech provider of enterprise business planning software. During his tenure at Made2Manage, revenues grew from $12 million to $36 million and he launched more than 50 new products, including a strategic business unit startup that went on to become one of the most successful product launches in company history.

Wheat's early career was spent as a controls engineer for Prologix Systems Integration and Rockwell International, where he engineered more than 50 high-tech control systems for hi-profile companies such as General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Quaker Oats, and Kraft Foods.

As a musician, Wheat has been in numerous successful bands, the latest being Solving For X, an independent rock group for which he plays bass guitar. The independent band recorded and released a full length CD in late 2004 and has been made available at over 50 music download sites including iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, MSN Music and others.

He earned his masterís in business administration from Butler University, and his bachelorís degree in engineering technology from Purdue University.

Wheat currently resides in Indianapolis, IN, with his wife and three children.
