MIDEM Music Spotlight: Ron van den Beuken
Artist: Ron van den Beuken
Bookings: Viking Entertainment BV
This is the cut on the DUTCH DANCE 2006 PART 1 that snuck up on me. I was first attracted to the pretty vocal melody based upon a Tibetan chant, which the Netherlands native Ron van den Beuken effectively weaves throughout the track. The rhythm threw me off at first – the echo on the lead lines almost seemed to throw the beat off. And then I just let it all go and wham! the swirling groove took over. I really enjoy this track and have listened to it repeatedly, as it is an addicting listen.
Ron van den Beuken is no stranger to dance music. He started seven years ago, and enjoyed club successes in Europe as well as number one Dutch Dance Chart hits, including four in one year. Notable tracks include the cover of the Coldplay track using the alias “Clokx”, “Timeless,” and a recent remix Randy Katana titled “In Silence.” Ron won the Best Dance-Act 2004 in Netherlands award.
“Clokx- Tibet” is his new single that was included in the DUTCH DANCE 2006 PART 1 compilation CD from DutchSound.nl , a initiative of the Conamus Foundation and distributed at “MIDEM, The World Music Market’s 40th Edition.” Another reason to queue up Dutch Dance 2006!
