Sam Kling To Head BMG Music Publishing's Film/TV Department
Sam Kling has been named vice president, Film & TV, BMG Music Publishing North America, effective immediately.
In his new role, Kling will oversee the synchronization departments of both BMG Songs/Zomba Music Publishing as well as FirstCom (one of BMG's leading Production Music libraries). BMG/Zomba and FirstCom will continue to have independent Film/TV departments.
Staff for both BMG/Zomba and FirstCom will continue to pitch their department's music only; however, both departments will now report to Kling.
Los Angeles-based Kling will report to Scott Francis, president, BMG Songs North America and Carol Riffert, vice president/general manager, FirstCom.
Kling was most recently vice president, Film & TV, FirstCom. Prior to joining FirstCom in 2004, he was managing director of Madgroove Entertainment, an independent artist and producer management company.
On the BMG/Zomba side, Sam replaces Ron Broitman, who departed BMG Music Publishing earlier this year. Marina Mena will take over Kling's day-to-day duties at FirstCom.
"Since joining FirstCom, Sam has done a terrific job leading the company's synch activities and I am confident he will do the same for BMG in his combined roll," said Francis. "Sam is a real music guy with a keen sense of visual creativity, and possesses a perfect blend of business sense and musical knowledge for the job. Having Sam at the helm of both departments will create synergy, allowing both Film/TV staffs to share information and opportunities."
"My goal at BMG Music Publishing is to work with our songwriters and maximize their exposure to the Film/TV/video game communities, while continuing the tradition of pitching and licensing great music quickly and efficiently, " said Kling.
