Eric Elwell Joins Paragon Studios
Multi-disciplined engineer/producer/entertainment manager Eric Elwell has been named studio manager for Paragon Studios, a five-star appointed studio specializing in recording and post-production. His responsibilities at Paragon Studios include an overhaul of the studio's market direction, branding and imaging campaign, new business development and operational management.
"We are very excited to have Eric as a member of our team and know his talents will be key factors in Paragon Studios' continued success," said Fred Paragano, owner of Paragon Studios. "Eric's professional experience within the A/V industry makes him a great resource and asset to Paragon and our clients."
Elwell began his music education at Wichita State University with a major in music performance and a minor in business administration, and finished his studies in audio recording technique and technology at The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH.
After working as an independent engineer in Kansas City, MO, Elwell engineered and mixed a successful comeback recording for 1980s rock act Shooting Star. Soon after, Elwell was drafted by L.A. veteran manager Bud Prager to handle production and FOH engineering for Giant, fronted by guitar virtuoso and future producer Dann Huff.
At Huff's recommendation, Elwell then relocated to Nashville to further pursue his recording studio career as an independent engineer, quickly acquiring credits on recordings for Hank Williams Jr., Pam Tillis, Highway 101, John Berry, Jim Brickman, Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. In 1998, Elwell became director of productions for Michael W. Smith Productions where he managed performance and personal appearances, project-coordinated recordings and video shoots, traveled as management representatives to functions as well as mixing 70-100 performances per year.
Elwell launched Greymatter Entertainment in 2002 and retained Michael W. Smith as a client. He also added the role of tour manager for Amy Grant and Virgin Records breakout sensation Stacie Orrico's promotional tour appearances, which included MTV's "TRL," "The Today Show," "The Sharon Osborne Show," the New York City Marathon, and other national and international appearances. Other clients included multi-platinum country artists LeAnn Rimes and Jo Dee Messina. Most recently, Elwell added producer to his discography, in addition to engineering and mixing in surround Word/Warner Brothers artist Mark Schultz' DVD/CD set, Live: A Night of Stories & Songs, now certified Platinum by the RIAA.
"Fred Paragano and Paragon Studios have a sterling reputation in the music industry," said Elwell. "I look forward to working closely with Fred to further strengthen the studio's position in the marketplace. He is an amazing engineer whose talent has yet to be fully discovered. I plan to make that happen."
