Endemol, BMG Music Publishing Sign Global Agreement
BMG Music Publishing, the world's largest independent music publisher and third largest overall, will subpublish the music catalogue of TV giant Endemol in a new worldwide deal announced today by the companies.
Under the agreement, BMG Music Publishing, a major player in film/TV music, will subpublish the music publishing rights worldwide to television programs created by Endemol including “Fear Factor,” “Deal or No Deal,” “Big Brother” and “One vs 100,” in addition to a host of forthcoming new shows.
The deal also allows BMG Music Publishing to become creatively involved in Endemol's television productions, by licensing music from its extensive Pop or Production Music catalogue, when appropriate.
"BMG Music Publishing is very proud to represent Endemol's music catalogue," said Simon Mortimer, Vice President, Business Development, BMG Music Publishing Worldwide. "Endemol has created some of the biggest global hits on TV right now – “Big Brother” continues to be one of the U.K.'s top rated programs several years into its run, and “Deal or No Deal” is one of the biggest hits of the season in the U.S. TV continues to be one of the key growth areas for music publishers and our alliance with Endemol fits perfectly into BMG Music Publishing's long-term strategy."
Commented Endemol's Mike Morley, senior executive director, commercial & creative affairs: "Endemol generates thousands of hours of original programming every year and while we already collect music revenues in relation to these productions, we're sure BMG's expert assistance with this highly specialized task will enrich our revenues. BMG Music Publishing is blessed with a wealth of experience in this field and we're delighted to have secured their services. We greatly look forward to benefiting from their talents and substantially growing this area of our business."
