WEA Corp., Warner Music Group Corp.'s U.S. retail sales and marketing company, announced the appointment of Larry Mattera as senior vice president, digital sales and marketing.

In his new position, Mattera will lead a team overseeing all of WEA's digital sales efforts. Based in New York, Mattera will report to Todd Van Gorp, senior vice president, sales and marketing, for WEA Corp.

"With more than a decade's worth of digital entertainment experience and a well-deserved reputation for being one of the most talented executives in the industry, I am very excited to have Larry come aboard at WEA to head up our digital sales efforts," said John Esposito, president and CEO of WEA Corp. "He gets it and is always forging new ground."

In making the announcement, Van Gorp said, "As WMG continues its transformation to being a music-based content company, having an executive of Larry's caliber is essential. He will be not only a great addition to our team but also a valuable resource to our online and mobile partners."

"WEA has been among the most aggressive and forward-thinking companies in its approach to a digital future. I am extremely excited to join the incredible team at WEA and look forward to contributing to the next phase of the company's digital evolution," said Mattera.

Prior to joining WEA, Mattera served as senior vice president, music, for Amp'd Mobile, where he led the music services division and was responsible for overseeing mobile music initiatives from all sides of the business including content, marketing, sales, and business development.

Mattera joined Amp'd Mobile from Island Def Jam (IDJ) in 2005 where he served as senior vice president, new media and strategic marketing. During his six years at IDJ, he established and oversaw the company's first new media initiatives. Additionally, he was a member of Universal Music Group's e-Council, where strategies in the new technology space were established, reviewed and implemented. At IDJ, Mattera worked with a range of artists including Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Sum 41, Kanye West, The Killers and Jay Z.

From 1994 to 1996, Mattera was manager, online marketing and business development, at Epic Records. In this role, he helped establish web sites for many of the label's top-selling artists including Michael Jackson and Ozzy Osbourne. In addition, Mattera was responsible for creating and implementing what were among the music industry's first-ever artist-based Internet marketing campaigns.
