EMI Music Publishing Appoints Big Jon Platt As President Of West Coast Creative And Promotes Dan McCarroll To Executive Vice President Of East Coast Creative
Roger Faxon, chairman and CEO of EMI Music Publishing worldwide, announced key executive appointments and the formation of a North American leadership group as part of a series of initiatives to reinforce the company's unerring commitment to delivering the highest level of service to its songwriters and composers.
Central to these initiatives is the appointment of Big Jon Platt as president of West Coast Creative, EMI Music Publishing's most senior representative on the West Coast. As such he will focus on leading his team to deliver the highest level of service and creative support to the company's entire roster of West Coast-based songwriters and composers across all genres. In addition, Big Jon will continue his national leadership of EMI Music Publishing's Urban Music department, where he has long been recognized for playing a major role in building the industry's most commercially and artistically successful urban music publishing unit. Platt has signed some of the biggest names in music, including Jay-Z, Kanye West, Usher, Beyoncé, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Mr. Collipark, Rich Harrison, Harold Lilly and Damon Thomas, among others. Platt will report directly to Roger Faxon.
In another significant move, Dan McCarroll has been promoted to executive vice president, East Coast Creative. This promotion is in recognition of the expanding role Dan plays in the company and the heightened importance of his position as head of East Coast Creative. In the eight months he has held this position he has demonstrated his leadership, understanding of an increasingly complex marketplace and commitment to delivering the very best service to the company's East Coast-based roster of songwriters and composers. Dan will continue to report to Roger Faxon.
As part of these strategic initiatives, the company has formed the North American Songwriter Leadership Council, whose aim will be to coordinate on a North American and global basis the full array of EMI Music Publishing's resources to enhance the success of each of the songwriters and composers it represents. Joining Platt and McCarroll on the Leadership Council will be the Council's co-chairs, CEO Faxon and World Wide Executive Vice President Leo Corbett, as well as three other key leaders in EMI Music Publishing's executive team: Gary Overton, head of the company's Nashville Office; Michael McCarty, president of EMI MP Canada; and Nestor Casonu, managing director of EMI Music Publishing's Latin division.
