Elise Wright Appointed Universal Republic's SVP Urban Music
Elise Wright has been appointed senior vice president of Urban Music for Universal Republic Records, it was announced by Monte Lipman, president & CEO of the label.
"She possesses a rare combination of talents, from her unique strategic insight into urban music's changing landscape to a wealth of marketing experience," stated Mr. Lipman. "Elise and I have shared a great working relationship in the past. The entire Universal Republic family is delighted to welcome her onboard."
"I'm elated to be working with Monte and Avery once again and their staff at Universal Republic," states Ms. Wright who will report to Mr. Lipman in her new role. "Their devotion to their artists and the great leadership role they play in charting the labels overall mission truly makes this a rewarding opportuniy."
Prior to Universal Republic, Ms. Wright served as vice president of marketing for Universal Motown. While there, she was responsible for developing new and established platinum and multi-platinum stars including Chamillionaire, Akon, Toni Braxton and India.Arie, among many others. She has played a crucial role in the visual development of Motown and Universal Motown artists for several years.
In 2003, Ms. Wright was appointed to vice president of video promotions for Universal Motown. Prior to that appointment she was senior director of video promotions for Universal Motown. In both those roles, Ms. Wright was responsible for the strategic visual marketing campaigns of several key artists, including Stevie Wonder, Nelly, India.Arie, Erykah Badu, Brian McKnight, David Banner and Akon, among others.
From 1995 to 2000, Ms. Wright was director of publicity and media relations for Motown, helping to coordinate the media campaigns surrounding Motown's 40th Anniversary Celebration,including the 1998 SuperBowl XXXII Halftime Show, and an ABC TV documentary.
