A2IM Announces Ted Cohen As Digital Business Development Consultant
The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) has announced that Ted Cohen, managing partner of TAG Strategic, will serve as a digital business development consultant to the organization to assist the members of the independent record label trade organization in navigating the digital space.
One of the pioneers of the digital realm, Ted Cohen was instrumental in crafting the licensing agreements upon which the Rhapsody subscription service and the iTunes Music Store were originally built. Cohen's company, TAG Strategic, is a digital consulting firm that utilizes and monetizes the convergence of the Internet, broadcast, production, mobile, music, movies, and online advertising platforms for its clients.
A2IM President Rich Bengloff notes "as music consumer trends are migrating from a sales consumption model to a performance (internet radio, satellite radio, time-shifting, etc.) consumption model, artist and music label income from Internet sales (on-line and mobile sales) and Internet performance sources, as well as music licensing, have become crucial for the financial existence of both Independent artists and labels. People's devotion to music is as strong as ever, it's just that consumption patterns have changed and the rules have changed as a result. The depth of Ted's technology experience will make him an invaluable advisor to A2IM and its members.
"Independent artists and labels represent the passion of the music industry and stand to gain the most from a robust digital future. I'm truly excited to be advising A2IM's members and the artists they represent." says Ted Cohen.
