PASTE Founding Publisher Returns
Paste magazine announced a new publisher, Nick Purdy, and the promotion of Jay Sweet to director of business development. Publisher Tim Regan-Porter remains with Paste as the magazine's president. Paste - 2006 and 2007 winner of the PLUG Award for "Magazine of the Year," and recently called "the finest among American music titles" by the Wall Street Journal - is one of the fastest-growing independent magazines in America.
Purdy, Paste's founding publisher, returns to the magazine to direct the marketing team as well as the ad sales operations for print and online. Purdy will also oversee and contribute to programs relating to web store management, direct sales programs, public/media relations, circulation growth strategies, events and multi-channel sponsorships. A 1993 cum laude graduate of Auburn University in Marketing, Purdy started his career on the agency side in direct marketing, followed by an e-business consulting position with Deloitte & Touche.
Sweet joined Paste in 2004, first as a writer and later in 2005, as an ad sales representative for the Boston market. Eventually, Sweet took the role of Editor-at-Large while assisting with business development. In his new role, Sweet will further develop Paste's event strategy and related sponsorship/advertising inventory, along with multi-channel sponsorship deals. A frequent keynote speaker at film, video game and music conferences around the country, Sweet is a principal and co-founder of Sugarfoot Consulting, one of the country's premier music consulting firms, responsible for many high-profile song placements in television commercials and other arenas.
"We're thrilled to welcome Nick back and to promote Jay Sweet," enthused Paste President Tim Regan-Porter. "Nick was one of the original visionaries for the magazine, and he really set us on the path to where we are today. Jay Sweet has been instrumental in opening many doors for Paste, and we expect that he will continue to excel in that role."
