NY ASCAP Songwriter Profile: Chris Amenita (Piercing Silence)
A major opportunity for songwriters, artists, and professionals to gather and make contacts
Songwriter/Artist: Chris Amenita (Piercing Silence)
Why did you decide to attend ASCAP NY Sessions?
I work with ASCAP as well as an ad network (CPX Interactive) that also runs campaigns for independent artists using Caliber 1 Media to put their music in front of people that will listen to it. My band is also serious about music and we are constantly working on writing our songs, performing in front of everyone at any time possible, and are currently looking to find the right recording studio or someone with the necessary equipment.
Networking is also a must, and the ASCAP event was a major opportunity for songwriters, artists, and aspiring music industry professionals to gather and make contacts.
What was the most important thing you took away from the one-day conference?
Aside from all the vital advice from music industry professionals, the new friends and contacts that I made at the conference were the most important.
What is the biggest benefit of being an ASCAP member?
Being a part of the ASCAP team is like being in a giant family that is always there to watch your back and guide you through challenges.
What major projects or ambitions do you have lined-up for 2009?
Piercing Silence recently won 1st place in a major competition - Unsigned Bandfest IV, at The Crazy Donkey in Long Island, NY against 13 other bands that were chosen from all over the Long Island / New York area. We are competing in the finals on April 4th in front of record label representatives, producers, and possibly a guest celebrity and are determined to show our fans a great performance and a hell of a time no matter what the outcome is. We are also looking forward to finally recording our demo in a professional studio and have it mastered the right way, and since we are a tight live act we will most likely be doing a live recording.
