E1 Music Names Alan Grunblatt President
E1 Music announced that Alan Grunblatt, long-time General Manager and Executive Vice President of E1 Music, has been promoted to President, Rock and Urban. Grunblatt replaces Bob Frank, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.
Grunblatt will report directly to Koch. His responsibilities have also been expanded to include oversight of the rock genre for E1 Music. As such, Scott Givens, VP of Metal, will now report to Grunblatt.
E1 also announced the promotion of Michael Healy to Executive VP and General Manager of E1 Music. He was formerly EVP for Finance and Operations.
Chuck Mitchell, VP of Jazz and Adult Music, will now oversee Susan DelGiorno, GM of E1 Classics, and Hugh Fordin, President of DRG Records. Chuck Mitchell will report to Koch as well.
Kazu Koike Is Appointed Universal Music Japan President/CEO
Kazu Koike, President and Chief Operating Officer of Universal Music LLC (Japan), has been promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer, effective from Nov. 1, 2009.
Concurrently, Kei Ishizaka, Chairman and Chief Executive of Universal Music LLC (Japan), has renewed his contract with the company, to continue a successful association which has lasted for the past 15 years.
Effective from Nov. 1, Ishizaka will become non-Executive Chairman of Universal Music LLC. In that capacity, he will continue as Chairman of the Recording Industry Association of Japan, while also continuing to play a key role in the A&R strategies of Universal Music LLC and other facets of its business.
John Raso Joins HFA As Vice President, Publisher Services & Distributions
The Harry Fox Agency, a leading U.S. music rights licensing organization, announced that John Raso has joined the company as Vice President, Publisher Services & Distributions. Raso will oversee the East and West Coast Publisher Services Teams and Distributions operations. He reports to Ed Hunt, Senior Vice President, Publisher Services & Distributions.
"I'm very excited to have an executive with John Raso's experience on my team," said Hunt. "He has spent over 20 years in the music industry and his skills include client relationship management, licensing, marketing, and business development. He will help us drive for continued improvements in our client management and business processes, so HFA can do an even better job of meeting the needs of the current marketplace, with an eye to developing the one of the future."
Universal Music South East Asia Strengthens Digital Operations
Four new key appointments have been made to bolster Universal Music South East Asia's Digital and Business Development operations, as part of the company's progressive growth strategy across a 10-country region.
With immediate effect, UMSEA's four new regional Heads of Digital and Business Development are:
* Loo Yew Ming for the ASEAN region, based in Kuala Lumpur and travelling across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Since June 2006, Yew Ming was the Director of Digital for UMSEA (excluding China);
* Andrew Chan for Greater China, based in Beijing and travelling across Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan. Andrew was the former-CEO of Golden Dynamic, the main tech provider of Universal Music's services in South East Asia;
* Ashish Joshi for Greater India, based in Mumbai and responsible for Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as the promoting the company's Indian repertoire globally. Ashish was previously the General Manager of Hungama Mobile, the world's largest aggregator, publisher and distributor of South-Asian entertainment content;
* Jason Roh for Korea, based in Seoul. Jason comes from a subsidiary of Seoul's SK Telecom, where he was a dynamic digital executive.
Lime Wire Adds Digital Media Exec To Oversee Product
Jason Herskowitz has joined Lime Wire as Vice President, Product Management. In this newly created position, Herskowitz will oversee Lime Wire's integrated product strategy, planning, design and management. Lime Wire's product teams will report to Herskowitz. Herskowitz reports to Lime Wire CEO, George Searle.
Herskowitz comes to Lime Wire from TotalMusic, where he held the position of Vice President, Product Management, managing a team of product managers, UX architects, designers, and QA engineers in the creation and management of music platform, products and services. Prior to TotalMusic, Herskowitz was Vice President at Strands, where he managed the Social Media business unit in the creation of holistic content discovery recommendation engine and critically acclaimed content sharing experience at Strands.com. Strands.com, music.Strands.tv, mystrands.com and the Strands Tracker software were all defined, launched and/or managed by Herskowitz.
Brusca Upped To Razor & Tie Vice President, Media & Artist Relations Razor & Tie
Kerri Brusca has been promoted to Vice President, Media & Artist Relations for Razor & Tie Entertainment, based at the company's headquarters in New York City. She reports to Razor & Tie Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing Alyson Shapero.
Shapero commented, "In addition to Kerri's extensive music business experience, she is an out-of-the-box strategic thinker who adds value across the company. Her involvement especially on the artist development side always brings great marketing ideas and initiatives for our artists." Brusca joined Razor & Tie in 2007 and was most recently Senior Director, Media & Artist Relations. She oversees media and artist relations across all media platforms as well as corporate initiatives.
