Libby Baulch Appointed As Copyright Agency Limited's New Policy Director
Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) announced the appointment of Libby Baulch in the new role of Policy Director, leading CAL's recently established Policy & Government Relations division. Libby, previously the Executive Officer of the Australian Copyright Council, brings to CAL over 20 years experience in copyright policy and law.
"We're delighted to welcome Libby to the CAL team," says CAL Chief Executive, Jim Alexander. "As well as her wealth of experience and knowledge of copyright law, Libby also comes to us with a reputation for her independent thinking and analysis. This will be invaluable in assisting CAL to engage with policy makers and thought leaders while representing the rights of our members and licensees."
The new appointment comes as part of some overall changes at CAL set to better position the organisation to meet the challenges of the evolving digital world.
"A new position focussing on CAL's digital strategy has been created, ensuring that the needs of our members and licensees remain at the forefront of the changing digital environment," says Mr Alexander.
"A new manager will also head up the Rightsholder Relations division to coordinate the delivery of CALdirect, CAL's planned new payment system, and to strengthen relationships with key rightsholder organisations."
Lime Wire Announces New Head Of Global
Zeeshan Zaidi, formerly of SONY BMG, RCA Music Group and Arista Records, joins Lime Wire as Head of Global, a newly created position. Zaidi comes to Lime Wire from NABBR, where he has been Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Development for the online media startup that distributes premium entertainment content and brand advertising to a Gen Y audience. He will be responsible for developing and executing a global strategy for Lime Wire. Zaidi will report to George Searle, Lime Wire CEO.
Prior to joining NABBR, Zaidi was Vice President of New Ventures for SONY BMG Global Digital Business Group. There, he was charged with developing and launching new businesses and developed revenue streams using subscription, retail, and advertising models, leveraging the assets of all of Sony BMG's U.S. labels as well as catalog inventory.
EMI Music Expands Global Digital Capabilities With Key Appointments
EMI Music has announced a number of senior digital executive appointments within its central marketing organization and in its regional marketing teams. The following executives have been appointed to Ondrejka's global digital marketing team at EMI Music. They will work closely with EMI Music's regional digital marketing heads for its New Music and Catalog units.
Syd Schwartz, who formerly oversaw digital strategy for EMI Music in North America, has expanded his role to a global one with his promotion to senior vice president, digital marketing. He brings two decades of digital strategy, marketing and sales experience to this newly-created role and will focus on driving digital marketing experiments and knowledge sharing within EMI Music, across all of its territories. He reports to Ondrejka.
David Boyle has been appointed to vice president, consumer insight and validation. Boyle has worked on behalf of consumer brands like Tesco as well as in politics, including for Catalist, a firm which worked on the successful Presidential campaign of Barack Obama. He reports to Ondrejka.
Eric Case, formerly with Google, joins EMI as vice president, marketing platforms. At EMI, he is applying the technology and development background he developed at Google division Blogger.com to maximize EMI's effective use of its digital assets and platforms. He reports to Ondrejka.
Charlotte Robertson has been appointed vice president of consumer reach. She is driving the development of new ways for EMI to reach and build relationships with music fans across traditional and digital channels, and building capabilities which will allow EMI to monetize and deliver value in every part of the music experience. She was most recently head of marketing for British Sky Broadcasting's Online Business Unit. She reports to Syd Schwartz.
EMI Music's regional digital marketing heads include:
Dan Duncombe, who has been promoted to vice president digital marketing for EMI Music in the UK & Ireland. Duncombe has driven award-winning digital campaigns for Coldplay, Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen and more. Backed by a team of 12 digital marketers, he reports directly to Bart Cools, executive vice president of marketing, Europe and will work closely with Syd Schwartz.
Achim Fettig has been appointed senior vice president digital marketing, Continental Europe. Fettig, who has had a variety of technology, CRM and change management positions at EMI in Germany, reports directly to Bart Cools and works closely with Syd Schwartz. He is based in Cologne works along with Dan Duncombe in the UK, with the many digital marketing specialists throughout EMI's European territories, and with EMI's central marketing teams to implement digital artist initiatives across Europe.
Bob Heinemann has been promoted to vice president, interactive marketing in North America. His experience spans two decades in digital entertainment, having worked at both Capitol and Atlantic records, as well as with Vibe, SonicNet and Reel.com. Backed by a team of a dozen digital marketing professionals, Heinemann, reports directly into Howard Handler, executive vice president of marketing in North America and works closely with Schwartz.
Geoff Smith is appointed as digital director for the company's Catalog unit, reporting into Steve Pritchard and Pete Duckworth, senior vice presidents for commercial marketing and catalogue and working closely with Ondrejka.
Pandora Names MySpace Exec Sean Duggan As VP Eastern Regional Sales
Pandora Media, the premier provider of personalized radio service online, announced the hire of Sean Duggan as the company's eastern regional vice president for advertising sales. Duggan comes to Pandora directly from MySpace at Fox Interactive Media where he was director of east coast sales.
"We're delighted that Sean will be at the helm in this key market with so many agencies doing cutting-edge advertising that can take advantage of Pandora's ad platforms," said Cheryl Lucanegro, senior vice president of advertising sales for Pandora. "Sean's strong knowledge of the New York and Boston markets coupled with his background at Fox Interactive makes him a perfect fit with Pandora's east coast team."
As director of east coast sales at MySpace, Duggan managed the MySpace east coast sales team as well as formulated strategic goals and objectives and led negotiations with strategic advertising partners such as Unilever, AT&T, Church & Dwight, Johnson & Johnson and Novartis.
Sound Performance USA Appoints Charlie Davis As Director Of Sales
After hopping across the pond in 2008 to their current midtown locale, CD/vinyl manufacturer Sound Performance USA is proud to announce the addition of Charlie Davis to its sales team. Originally hailing from the publishing sector of New York's Downtown Records, Mr. Davis seeks to bring S.P.'s worldwide tradition of top notch customer service to domestic labels. "Labels have enough to worry about these days," says Mr. Davis. Warner Music Group Names Christian Tattersfield CEO, Warner Music UK And Chairman, Warner Bros Records UK
Warner Music Group announced the appointment of Christian Tattersfield as CEO, Warner Music UK and Chairman, Warner Bros Records UK. Tattersfield, founder of 14th Floor Records, has signed and nurtured some of the most acclaimed musical talents of the last few years, including Damien Rice, David Gray, Ray LaMontagne and Biffy Clyro.
Reporting to John Reid, Vice Chairman, Warner Music International and Chairman, Warner Music Europe, Tattersfield will assume responsibility for the full portfolio of Warner Music's labels in the UK, including Warner Bros Records, Atlantic Records and Rhino. In addition to overseeing the discovery and development of emerging local talent, he will co-ordinate high-impact campaigns for the label's established international artists. Tattersfield will devise cross-label strategies designed to further strengthen Warner Music UK's artist services offer, and will continue to build out the company's digital footprint through innovative partnerships with the UK's leading online and mobile service providers.
Also announced is the promotion of Max Lousada to the role of Chairman, Atlantic Records UK. As President of Atlantic Records UK, Lousada has been instrumental in the success of breakout acts such as Paolo Nutini, Santigold, James Blunt, Little Boots and Alesha Dixon among others. He has grown Atlantic's stable of imprints to include Asylum, 679, B-Unique and 14th Floor and has pioneered expanded rights partnerships across the whole group.
Matt Peskie Joins Masque Sound
Matt Peskie, a multi-faceted audio industry professional with extensive technical, production and touring experience, has joined the Masque Sound sales team with a focus on installations and production. In making the announcement, company co-principal Geoff Shearing said, "Matt Peskie brings a unique combination of skills to this new position. In addition to his hands-on knowledge of tour management, FOH and monitor mixing, he is detail-oriented and has strong communication and interpersonal skills. We expect him to play a meaningful role both in the trenches on installations, and in bringing the Masque Sound message to prospective clients."
Peskie served as Monitor Engineer with Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin tour, Production Manager for Jars of Clay, Monitor Engineer for Guster and as Tour Manager, FOH Engineer and Monitor Tech for many other notable artists. "Masque Sound is on top of their game, and I am very pleased to be on board here," Peskie said. "This is a great chance to put my skills to use, particularly in the area of system integration and installation, and I'm looking forward to the opportunities that this company provides in the audio industry.
