Cameo Carlson Promoted To Executive Vice President Of Universal Motown Republic Group (UMRG)
Cameo Carlson has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Universal Motown Republic Group (UMRG), it was announced by Mel Lewinter, Chairman and CEO of the company, Sylvia Rhone, President of Universal Motown Records, and Monte Lipman, President of Universal Republic Records. Formerly, Ms. Carlson served as Senior Vice President of Digital Business Development for UMRG.
Ms. Carlson currently manages digital music initiatives for all of the labels and artists under the UMRG umbrella. Since joining the company in 2007, she has aggressively pursued mobile, online and digital sales and promotions for artists such as Colbie Caillat, Kid Cudi, Drake, Amy Winehouse, Lil Wayne and Jack Johnson.
While at UMRG, Ms. Carlson has enjoyed success with three of the ten biggest digital albums in history (Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams, and Jack Johnson's Sleep Through the Static), breaking mobile ringtone records for first week sales (Lil Wayne's "Lollipop"), as well as achieving top-selling sales of all time (Lil Wayne's "Lollipop") and number of multi-platinum sales (Akon). In September 2008, Ms. Carlson was named one of the Top Mobile Executives by Billboard Magazine for her work at UMRG.
Hurray! Announces Management Changes
Hurray! Holding Co., a leader in artist development, music production and wireless music distribution and other wireless value-added services in China, announced the resignation as Chief Executive Officer of Mr. Songzuo Xiang, and the resignation as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Ms. Xiaoqing Guo for personal reasons, with immediate effect. Concurrently, the Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Haibin Qu to the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Li Yao to the position of Acting Chief Financial Officer, with immediate effect.
Mr. Haibin Qu has been a member of the Board since July 2009 and he also served as the senior executive vice president of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited ("Shanda") since August 2005. Mr. Qu previously served as Shanda's senior vice president from July 2003 to August 2005, vice president from September 2002 to June 2003 and director of business development from February 2000 to August 2002. Prior to joining Shanda, Mr. Qu served as a vice president of Shanghai Fuwei Technology Development Co., Ltd. from September 1996 to December 1999. Mr. Qu holds a bachelor's degree in mechanics from Fudan University.
Mr. Li Yao has served as Shanda's associate president and financial director since November 2007. Mr. Yao also serves as a member of the board of directors and Chief Financial Officer of Actoz Soft Co., Ltd. Prior to joining Shanda, Mr. Yao was devoted in public accounting sector, including over 11- year experience with KPMG Huazhen Certified Public Accountants and has extensive finance and M&A expertise in a wide range of industries. Mr. Yao graduated from the College of International Business and Management, Shanghai University, majoring in Finance and Accounting. In addition, he is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of the People's Republic of China.
Music Choice Names Sean Salo Director Of Marketing
Music Choice, the award-winning, multi-platform video and music network, announced that it has named Sean Salo as its Director of Marketing. In his new position, Sean will lead brand development for Music Choice's On Demand (VOD) network and music channels across the network's multiple distribution platforms. Salo will create innovative cross-platform marketing campaigns; enhance the network's digital marketing and social networking capabilities; and identify and execute strategic, third party partnerships. He will oversee and direct the consumer marketing group, and liaise with the programming, content, creative and product development teams to develop compelling Original content and promotional campaigns to build greater consumer awareness and usage of the network's video and audio offerings.
EMI Music Strengthens Executive Team With Key Appointments
EMI Music announced the appointments of Shane Naughton to the position of Chief Financial Officer and Kyla Mullins as General Counsel. Both will become members of EMI Music's Executive Committee and will report to the company's Chief Executive Officer, Elio Leoni-Sceti.
Naughton is currently CFO of UBM Information, one of the major divisions of international FTSE quoted company United Business Media, which serves professional communities with event, online and print products. He is also CEO of its UBM Connect unit, driving the shift from print to digital across a diverse range of trade publications. Before joining UBM, he was Deputy CFO of Sky Deutschland, the German pay TV operator. He will join EMI Music in February and will lead all of EMI Music's finance operations worldwide through its network of subsidiaries in 32 countries.
Mullins has spent most of her career in management roles in the television business, including most recently ITV plc where she was Group Legal Director and a member of the Executive Committee. She will start in her EMI Music role on 24 November and will have global responsibility for all of the company's legal and business affairs activities as well as government affairs.
Lime Wire Names Two Vice Presidents
Lime Wire has named John Pavley as Vice President, Engineering and Shoshana Winter as Vice President, Marketing, it was announced by George Searle, Lime Wire CEO. Both positions report directly to Searle and are effective immediately.
As VP, Engineering, Pavley will develop and lead Lime Wire’s world-class engineering team. Pavley comes to Lime Wire from Conductor, Inc., where as Chief Technology Officer, he led R&D, Development, Technical Operations, and IT for the company. Prior to Conductor, Inc., Pavley was Chief Technology Officer of ContextWeb, where he managed R&D, Development, Technical Operations, Q & A and IT with both local and offshore resources. He joined ContextWeb after a term as VP Business Systems Engineering for Yahoo! Search Marketing. At Yahoo! Search Marketing, Pavley oversaw a team of over 120 engineers responsible for building user interfaces, reporting systems, data pipelines and optimization applications. Prior to Yahoo! Search Marketing, he was VP, Ad Management Engineering at DoubleClick, where he worked closely with the executive team on technical and business strategy, acquisitions, new product ideas and customer issues. He held management positions at BitLocker, Flashpoint, Apple and Claris prior to joining DoubleClick.
In the newly created position of VP, Marketing, Winter will develop and lead Lime Wire’s brand strategy, marketing and public relations, and evaluate new opportunities for the company.
Winter comes to Lime Wire from Motionbox, where she was Chief Marketing Officer. There, she developed and executed brand positioning for the online personal video sharing service, helping to differentiate its market position from other online video providers. She created a multichannel acquisition program to support the subscription service and helped develop a partner marketing strategy to increase product distribution. Prior to Motionbox, Winter was SVP/GM, Marketing for Audible.com, the leading provider of subscription-based digital audio content. There, she was directly responsible for the complete rebranding, repositioning and redesigning of the content service, which resulted in quarterly double-digit subscriber growth.
Studio Center Hires Chris Arbisi As Producer
Studio Center Total Production, headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA, announces the hiring of Chris Arbisi as their newest audio producer at their New York City studios, located at 315 Madison Avenue. Chris comes to Studio Center with extensive experience in audio post production and music composition and performance.
Arbisi has over 16 years experience in advertising, television and film. He served as Chief Engineer and Head of Production at Wax Music and Sound Design. His background includes audio production for Six Flags (dancing man campaign) recording and mixing several Sesame Street DVDs. He mixed The Jonas Brothers Experience on MTV and has produced several VH1 theme songs including the "World Series of Pop Culture," "Strip Search" and "I Know My Kid's a Star." Football fans can catch Arbisi's VH1 "Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Bash" work playing in stadiums throughout the nation.
Veteran Content Provider Launches New Venture
Web personality, content creator and pop culture expert and commentator Shawn Amos announced the launch of his new venture, Amos Content Group (ACG), which will specialize in providing clients with a wealth of resources to create, produce and maintain content unique to their brands. Amos will be leaving his current post as Senior Vice President of Content at the popular retro site Getback.com but will continue to oversee the site's content as a client of ACG.
Amos will also continue as host of the popular Web show "Retro Minute" in his new role. The high quality, high definition video currently reaches more than 150 million captive viewers per month and can be seen on screens at supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, coffee houses, and Walmart locations across the country. Amos Content Group's editorial products include Amos' own daily music blog for Yahoo!
