Black Tusk Sign To Relapse Records
Relapse Records announced the signing of Savannah, GA's Black Tusk. Black Tusk formed in 2005 and saw the release of their debut full-length, Passage Through Purgatory, last year via Hyperrealist. Black Tusk has most recently released a series of split 7's including those with ASG, The Holy Mountain, and Fight Amp.
Black Tusk are currently rounding out a run of dates with Black Cobra in the eastern US. Photos from the band's recent New York show can be viewed here. Upon returning home, Black Tusk will begin writing for their Relapse debut for an expected spring 2010 release date.
Allison Moorer Signs To Ryko
Allison Moorer is set to release her Ryko debut, Crows, on February 9th, 2010. Produced by R.S. Field (Buddy Guy, John Mayall) at the House of David Studio in Nashville, TN, the 13-track album is a refined and lyrically honest collection of songs that is a marked stylistic departure from her previous work.
Crows is the anticipated follow up to her critically acclaimed 2008 album, Mockingbird, which was a celebration of songs composed by a stunning cast of female songwriters including Nina Simone, Patti Smith, Cat Power, her sister Shelby Lynne, and more. It also follows Moorer's first Grammy Award Nomination for the song "Days Aren't Long Enough," a composition she co-wrote with her husband, Steve Earle, for his Grammy Award Winning 2007 album Washington Square Serenade.
Detroit's Legend Signs To Rise Records
Rise Records announced the signing of Detroit, Michigan's, Legend. Featuring former For The Fallen Dreams vocalist Chad Ruhlig, Legend is stomping out of the gate determined and ready to bring the heavy.
The group will enter the studio in January 2010 under the complete mastery of Zeuss at Planet Z Studio in Hadley, Massachusetts. Their debut album is set to release in April of 2010.
Metal Blade Records Signs Colorado's Allegaeon
Colorado's Allegaeon (pronounced: uh-lee-juhn) has joined forces with Metal Blade Records. Formed in early-summer 2008, with the release of their self-titled EP immediately following, Allegaeon has quickly spread their brand extreme metal locally, nationally and internationally, with many accolades from fans. Their 2008 EP was produced by local studio magic man Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Martriden, Cobalt). With only 4 songs, Allegaeon managed to captivate an entire new legion of dedicated supporters worldwide and with a live show that is as engaging as any, are sure to win over many more fans to come.
Reprise Records Signs Vancouver Hard Rock Band Art Of Dying
In partnership with Disturbed's label Intoxication Records, Reprise Records announced that it has signed Vancouver hard-rock band Art of Dying to its roster. Intoxication Records was launched in 2004 by Disturbed singer David Draiman and guitarist Dan Donegan. Its first release was the band's live CD/DVD Music as a Weapon II.
Art of Dying is a five-piece rock band fronted by Jonny Hetherington. The Vancouver-based group, which includes guitarist Greg Bradley, guitarist Tavis Stanley, bassist Cale Gontier, and drummer Jeff Brown, has built a dedicated international following since 2006 touring with Disturbed and Seether, as well as performing at such international festivals as Download and The Virgin Festival alongside Tool, Metallica, and The Deftones.
Kelis Signs To Interscope Records
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Kelis announced that she will release her next album through will.i.am Music Group / Interscope Records. Kelis has just given everyone a taste of what's to come with the David Guetta-produced "Acapella.". The new album features production work by some of today's most influential producers, including will.i.am, David Guetta (Black Eyed Peas), Free School, Boys Noize, Burns and DJ Ammo.
