Alfred Music Publishing Announces Ron Manus as Chief Executive Officer
Alfred Music Publishing to continues its 88-year legacy as a family-owned and operated organization with the appointment of Ron Manus as the company's Chief Executive Officer.
Ron Manus has assumed the responsibility of CEO from his brother Steve, who has moved to Spain with his wife Sylvie and 5-year-old daughter, Melissandra. "Even though Steve's life journey has led him on this new adventure, he will continue to play an important role on special projects. And while I am very happy for my brother, I will truly miss his presence here in our Van Nuys offices. He has been a great leader and has left a legacy of which I look forward to following," said Ron.
Kira Florita Resigns As Executive Director Of Leadership Music
Kira Florita has submitted her resignation as executive director of Leadership Music, the Leadership Music Board of Directors announced today. Her resignation will become effective on Jan. 18, 2010; however, Florita will remain engaged as a consultant to assist with the transition to a new management team.
A 30-year music industry veteran, Florita has successfully helmed the 501(c)(3) educational organization for five years, which included the substantial growth of major events such as the Leadership Music Digital Summit and the Leadership Music Dale Franklin Award. She served as the organization's third executive director, following the late Dale Franklin and Tabitha Daly.
NMPA's Israelite to Continue as Trade Organization's President and CEO Through 2014
The National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) Board of Directors announced that David Israelite has accepted a contract extension to continue his role as the trade organization's President and CEO through 2014. Israelite has served as President and CEO since February, 2005.
Irwin Robinson, Chairman of the NMPA Board of Directors, said Israelite's string of important successes on behalf of music publishers and songwriters merited the organization's early commitment to retaining its CEO.
As President and CEO, Israelite is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the NMPA's operations, from legal strategy and implementation to government affairs and advocacy.
Universal Motown Records Appoints Pat Monaco To Executive Vice President & General Manager
Universal Motown Records, a division of Universal Music Group, has appointed Pat Monaco to Executive Vice President & General Manager of the company. Formerly, Mr. Monaco served as Executive Vice President of Sales & Field Marketing for Universal Motown Republic Group.
Prior to joining Universal, Mr. Monaco served as General Manager of Island Records. His background also includes a number of senior positions within Island Records and PolyGram Distribution, as well as serving as President/Owner of Landmark Distributors.
Paul Vidich Joins Board of ReverbNation.com
ReverbNation has announced the appointment of Paul Vidich, former Executive Vice President of Warner Music Group and Special Advisor to AOL, to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Vidich will bring his extensive experience with music and media from CBS, Warner Music Group, and AOL to the leading artist-focused music and marketing platform.As EVP at Warner Music, Mr. Vidich was responsible for global business development and technology strategy, closing the first major record company agreement with Apple iTunes in 2002, which became the template for deals Apple would later conclude with Universal Music, Sony, and EMI. At AOL, Mr. Vidich was the senior executive in charge of video operations, and helped establish the first on-demand, premium-content video portal that laid the ground work for companies like Hulu.
New Chief Executive Appointed At Intellectual Property Office
John Alty will become the new Chief Executive and Comptroller-General of the Intellectual Property Office, Minister of State for Intellectual Property announced.
Currently Director General for Fair Markets at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, John brings with him broad experience of business, regulation and markets and will work to promote the Government's innovation agenda, supporting creativity in the UK.
Warner/Chappell Music Bolsters UK And International Business Affairs Teams
Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp., announced three new appointments designed to strengthen its UK and International Legal and Business Affairs teams. Mark Waring takes the role of Head of Legal and Business Affairs, Warner/Chappell Music UK, reporting to Richard Manners, Managing Director Warner/Chappell Music UK and Jane Dyball, Senior Vice President, International Legal and Business Affairs, Warner/Chappell Music. Rebecca Coleman and Anneliese Capps both join as Legal and Business Affairs Managers, reporting to Waring. Capps will have additional responsibilities for International matters, for which she will report to Dyball.
Waring joins Warner/Chappell Music from Sony/ATV Music Publishing where, in his role as Head of Business Affairs, he was responsible for drafting, contractual negotiation and deal administration for signed writers and catalogues, as well as advising corporate divisions and international affiliates. Prior to that, he worked for Sony Records UK in the legal and Business Affairs team, having qualified as a solicitor at David Wineman Solicitors, specializing in music law. Earlier in his career, Waring also worked at Time Records in Italy and at Kickin' Music in London.
Coleman joins the company from the Warner Bros. Entertainment UK legal team where she provided general commercial and IP advice for the UK and Europe. This followed a previous stint with the company where she had worked in the European Corporate Commercial team. She qualified as a solicitor at Rouse Legal (formerly Willoughby and Partners) following Paralegal work at Hit Entertainment PLC, Herbert Smith and Harbottle & Lewis LLP.
Prior to her new role, Capps qualified as a solicitor at Mayer Brown International LLP, and worked on secondment to EMI Records in the Legal and Business Affairs team. She gained additional legal experience at Citigroup, Davenport Lyons and Allen & Overy.
