Beijing's multi-platform film and music venture Electric Shadows announced a special collection of events
Beijing's multi-platform film and music venture Electric Shadows announced a special collection of events geared around the Women's Day weekend promoting the work of women in film. International Women's Day (IWD), annually held on March 8th, is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
Artistic Director Vicky Mohieddeen noted "We believe female filmmakers have the skills and abilities to be just as good at storytelling as men, and that, like all great filmmakers, they are able to share stories that can resonate with a viewer regardless of gender, culture or age."
Alongside their regular monthly shorts programme and our Film Club at Café i, Electric Shadows will have a special documentary double bill at CNEX Café Salon:
The Electric Shadows Film Club
(March 5th 2010 @Cafe I, 6pm, Free)
The Electric Shadows Film Club showcases full length feature films on a big screen, ranging from modern classics to cult favourites and rare cinematic treats, screenings are accessible in Chinese and English and free of charge.
Anita Loos Double Bill:
- The Women (1939)
- Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

Electric Shadows is a multi-platform film and music venture, whose aim is to produce and promote experimental film and music and to provide a forum for Beijing-based sound and video artists to connect, collaborate and create. Electric Shadows presents a short film programme at Space for Imagination on the first Sunday of every month. Showcasing the finest short works from around the world, each month features an eclectic mix of films that challenge the conventional labels of documentary and fiction and blur the lines between narrative and experimental film, attempting to find new ways of looking at the world while stimulating, provoking and inspiring the audience.
