Sonicbids To Lead Discussion At CMJ 2010
Sonicbids, the website that helps bands discover and book gigs, has always prided itself on understanding what an artist and a promoter want most from each other. RocketHub Leads The Crowdfunding Revolution At CMJ 2010
RocketHub, a grassroots crowdfunding community developed for Creatives by Creatives, will descend upon CMJ 2010 to spread the crowdfunding revolution and empower musicians with the knowledge needed to master this new fundraising method. RocketHub will take part in two official CMJ events, aimed at educating and empowering musicians with the tools and real-life lessons necessary for successful crowdfunding:
MUSICIANS AS ENTREPRENEURS
Each artist will open with a short Q&A on their specific entrepreneurial project, followed by a performance with their band. RocketHub CEO Brian Meece will chat with Niall Connolly about his successful use of RocketHub to generate funds and awareness for his band.

Performing to a packed house is nothing new for the White House Band. This Brooklyn based band headlined the DIY Bushwick Festival, received great reviews from Mashable.com and during their live performances including the Time Out NY Make Music Festival in June. Sennheiser Awards The Hall Effect Coveted Showcase Slot At CMJ
Audio specialist Sennheiser announced winners of the second phase of Hear. I Am., an innovative campaign designed to help music lovers discover and share new music. The second phase of Hear. I Am. culminates with an exclusive CMJ Music Marathon showcase on October 20th at New York City's (Le) Poisson Rouge, which will feature winning band The Hall Effect.

Maya Solovey Makes A Splash On CMJ Music Marathon CD And Showcase
Award winning singer/songwriter Maya Solovey will launch "Maya's Culinary Concerts" at this month's CMJ Music Marathon Networking. Opening the "Musicians As Entrepreneurs" showcase, Maya will discuss her newest project with Women in Music President Evangelia Livanos and how it can serve as a template for independent artists to expand their opportunities beyond music, followed by a performance with her band. Maya's song "Tonight" from her self-titled album will also be included on the official CMJ Music Marathon CD compilation, which is distributed with CMJ Registration Bags, at the CMJ Exhibitors' Loft and mailed to CMJ New Music Report subscribers.

MPress Records & Social Exposure Present MPressFest CMJ 2010
NYC based independent record label MPress Records has just confirmed the lineup for their annual showcase event at this year's CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival. The event will take place at Gallery Bar in New York City on Thursday, October 21 @ 6:30 PM, and is sponsored by Social Exposure, Powderfinger Promotions, A to Z Media and Blurt Magazine. This is an official CMJ showcase, so attendees with badges will enjoy free entry.
The line up features two-time Independent Music Award Winner and NY glam-pop etoile Rachael Sage; MPress artist and acclaimed songsmith Seth Glier; internationally renowned guitarist for the legendary Richie Havens, Walter Parks; celebrated singer-songwriter and fiercely unique cellist, Lindsay Mac; versatile singer-songwriter, star of YouTube sensation "Rosh Hashanah Girl," and composer Michelle Citrin; and indie maverick, dynamic songwriter and performer Melissa Ferrick.
Berklee CMJ Music Marathon Showcase
Berklee College of Music, Heavy Rotation Records (HRR), and Berkleemusic.com present their fourth annual CMJ Music Marathon showcase of alumni and student artists, Friday, October 22, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Bowery Poetry Club. After three successful afternoon shows at CMJ, Berklee hosts a nighttime showcase for the first time. The show features rock, indie-pop, singer/songwriter, r&b, and electro-pop by The Prigs, The Wandas, Oceanographer, Julia Easterlin (HRR), The Honors, and Liptease (HRR).
Berklee's all-ages showcase is free for CMJ badge holders and $10 for the general public. Manchester's "The Travelling Band" To Perform At CMJ
Manchester, England's The Travelling Band, a favorite of the British festival circuit, is scheduled to perform at the CMJ Music Marathon's The Everything Independent Industry Showcase and Luncheon on October 19 at Spike Hill, 184 and 186 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY. The showcase is free and open to the public.
It comes as no surprise to the musical group's fans that The Travelling Band was selected from thousands of other groups to perform in the industry showcase, since the band has been rising in popularity after winning the Glastonbury New Talent Competition in 2008. This summer, Glastonbury Festival invited the band to return to play their renowned Park Stage as well the band also sharing the bill among musical legends Bob Dylan and Van Morrison at Hop Farm Festival.
This will be the band's first trip to New York since recording their debut album in the city 3 years ago with legendary producer/engineer duo Eric 'Roscoe' Amble and Tim Hatfield.
HELLO MUSIC Heads To New York City For CMJ
Los Angeles-based online music company HELLO MUSIC will make its way east this month to participate in the CMJ Music Marathon with an event set for Wednesday, October 20 at Ace of Clubs (9 Great Jones St./East 3rd St., Manhattan). Dedicated to connecting today's best independent musical talent to real industry opportunities, HELLO MUSIC has tapped five emerging artists to perform during its showcase including New Look, Casxio, Gamble & Burke, The Bamboo Kids, Posso and Ben Talmi. In addition, HELLO MUSIC President John Boyle will be a featured panelist on the "Take A Left at the Label: D.T.F" panel, Friday, October 22.
