Universal Republic & Island Def Jam Appoints Peter Thea To Executive Vice President
Universal Republic & Island Def Jam, a division of Universal Music Group, has expanded its management in the A&R area with the appointment of Peter Thea to Executive Vice President. Mr. Thea will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Barry Weiss. Based in New York, Mr. Thea will work closely with Mr. Weiss and the creative staffs of each label group.
As one of the industry's most successful executives, Mr. Thea most recently served as Executive Vice President, Jive Records, where he worked with such chart-topping artists as Britney Spears, R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, T-Pain and Usher among many others. He began his tenure at Jive Records in 1999 as Senior Vice President, where he headed the A&R department during the company's most explosive growth period. During this time, he worked with such multi platinum chart-toppers as *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys.
24-7 Appoints Tobias Brinkhorst As VP Marketing, Juke
JUKE, the recently launched cloud based consumer branch of 24-7 Entertainment GmbH, Europe's leading B2B service provider for digital music and subsidiary of Europe's number one electronics and entertainment retail group Media-Saturn appoints Tobias Brinkhorst as VP of Marketing.
Brinkhorst brings a wealth of experience from the telco, mobile and e-commerce sectors, having worked as a Consultant for Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Siemens Mobile, as well as Executive Director of Marketing for Jamba! (known as Jamster in English speaking territories) and Head of eCommerce for Groupon.
While at Deutsche Telekom, Brinkhorst managed Telekom's key strategic mobile handset projects including Apple's iPhone and iPad series as well as Google-featured Android-based handsets in up to 14 of their markets, serving as a liaison between the American IT companies and Telekom´s operating countries. Also of great relevance is Brinkhorst's experience at Jamba!, the premium-rate monthly SMS mobile phone content provider where he worked for many years but most recently overseeing the marketing for Australia, UK, South Africa, New Zealand and Ireland.
Reporting to Frank Taubert, CEO and Co-Founder, 24-7 Entertainment, Brinkhorst is based in the Berlin office. He heads up the JUKE marketing team and will oversee the expansion of JUKE across international territories.
Music Industry Veteran Joins SoundExchange As COO
SoundExchange announced the appointment of Jonathan C. Bender to the role of chief operating officer (COO). Jonathan will assume responsibility for the organization's operational structure, including oversight of distribution and account services. He will also oversee repertoire management and the organization's database for tracking, collecting and distributing music royalties on behalf of artists and record labels.
Jonathan brings more than 20 years of music industry business and management expertise to his position at SoundExchange. Over the years, Jonathan has served in senior operational roles at Concord Music Group, Universal Music Group, and EMI Music.
Ad Industry Veteran Scotty Moore Joins Guvera as Chief Revenue Officer
Guvera, a new social media platform solution designed to drive consumer engagement with the power of music, announced that digital media industry veteran Scotty Moore has been named Chief Revenue Officer to spearhead business development for the new company.
The addition of Mr. Moore to the fast-growing organization will further expand Australia-based Guvera's unique business, drawing on his extensive experience with building revenue-generating teams and programs.
Launched in Australia and in beta in the US since April of 2010, Guvera's model allows consumers to get music downloads for free, courtesy of marketers who create music channels that match their brand's personality and goals. Guvera has done the heavy lifting of acquiring music distribution rights from major and indie labels, so marketers can choose from a catalog of more than 5 million songs, then offer downloads of those songs to consumers in exchange for interacting with the brand. PlayNetwork Hires John Wooler As VP Of Music Services
PlayNetwork, producers of media experiences for brands worldwide, announced that music industry veteran John Wooler has been appointed Vice President of Music Services. As a five time Grammy Award winning producer and former executive at Virgin Records, Wooler brings more than two decades of artist and label relations experience. Additionally, Wooler skills in brand development and lifestyle marketing will deepen PlayNetwork's ability to match artists with global brands.

Music Legend Quincy Jones Joins Zenph Sound Innovations Artist Advisory Board
Zenph Sound Innovations, an entertainment technology company that builds advanced software to understand – and precisely recreate – how musicians play, announced the appointment of musical legend Quincy Jones to its Artist Advisory Board. In addition, the company added key industry veterans to its leadership.

Luna Chica Records COO Brenda Cline Honored By NAMI
Luna Chica Records' COO Brenda Cline was recently honored at the Well Within Awards Dinner as one of the founding board members of the National Alliance on Mental Illness chapter in Davidson County, Tennessee (NAMI Davidson County).
"It was a privilege to serve on the NAMI Board and I am humbled to receive this honor," said Cline." One in four people are affected by mental illness. This is deeply personal to me because mental illness has affected family members, as well as many artistic and creative people that I know. Mental illness is a disease and those who are affected with it shouldn't feel shame or embarrassment. My dream is that someday the stigma will be eradicated. It is one of NAMI's missions as well to provide support to those affected by the disease and their families."
