As China's cultural heart & soul, Beijing has always drawn all nature of talent and knowhow from across the country and world. If you've made it in your hometown and your thirsting for more, no better place for the ultimate challenge. Like I say, if you can make it there,... Seems like Shanghai's Dada agrees, recently announcing that they would be opening a new "Dada" bar on August 18 in Beijing's hip Gulou area (206 Gulou Dongdajie, Building B, room 101 ground floor center). If you tell yourself "I know that place," it's because it's in the same loft courtyard which houses Temple Bar.

"We've been wanting to come to Beijing for a long time, and we finally found a location we like. We are excited to be a part of this city's music and nightlife scene, and also a part of the neighborhood community. We have been doing events at venues around Beijing since 2006, so we know the city's music and bar scene."

Dada will host DJ parties on Fridays and Saturdays as well as other nights of the week. While focused mainly on local and local-based talents and free entry, they also plan on hosting international guests, with a small door charge. Add to that weird movies on the big screen and various art/culture events planned during mid-week nights.

Musically, you can expect the more underground side of (mostly) electronic music -- less techno and house -- more bass music, dubstep, electro, reggae, trip hop, abstract hip hop, disco, indie rock, post punk, dark wave, global funk, soul, and live electronic music.
