"Godfather of Chinese Punk" SMZB's "15+1" Annual Nationwide Tour To celebrate their brand new image and style, SMZB created a very unique name for the tour, "15+1"
SMZB is one of China's most experienced and legendary punk bands. After forming in 1996, SMZB quickly gained fame and recognition in the indie music scene. Their creativity and innovative sounds spread across the nation and continues to influence young start-up Chinese rock bands to this day. Though fans tend to refer to them as the "Godfather of Chinese Punk" to recognize their influence and seniority, SMZB maintains a very modest attitude towards this label. They continue to assert that they simply wanted to make music they believed in and their status as the "Godfather" was somewhat expected. Nevertheless, in the eyes of fans across the world, SMZB's influence in the Chinese indie scene has cemented their status as the punk band in China.
SMZB planned to launch their 15-anniversary tour last year, but multiple reasons forced the band members to postpone the tour to this year. To celebrate their brand new image and style, SMZB created a very unique name for the tour, "15+1". The band has moved in a new direction and ambitiously plans to become the one and only Celtic Punk band in China. In addition to the regular line-up, the band has added an ensemble of banjo, bagpipes, flutes and violins to add a different flavor to their sound. Also, this tour will mark the first official performance by their new bass player Ma, who has previously worked with metalcore band Brain Failure. For die-hard fans and rock enthusiasts alike, this will be an unforgettable event. The tour will begin at Shanghai's Mao Live House on October 5th.
