Midem, the leading international business event for the music ecosystem, joins forces with the first ever Dubai Music Week set to take place in Dubai's World Trade Centre, September 24-29, 2013.
Dubai Music Week, a joint venture between the Dubai World Trade Center, a Dubai government entity, and Quincy Jones' company Global Gumbo Group, is the first music tradeshow to take place in the Middle East.
Over the five-day event, core music business, media, tech companies, brands and artists will gather to create an environment that fosters new talent, celebrates existing artists and nurtures networking between brands and businesses. Dubai Music Week is also a new platform for showcasing the finest Middle Eastern and international musical talent. Confirmed artists already include Will.i.am and Timbaland.
The Midem team will curate a two-day Midem-branded conference programme, define the topics, as well as select and deliver the regional and international speakers.
Confirmed keynote speakers include Shridhar Subramaniam, President Middle East & India, Sony Music Entertainment (India) and Frank Cooper III, Chief Marketing Officer, Global Consumer Engagement, PepsiCo, Inc. (USA), who will share their insights on how Pepsi and Sony Music have partnered to successfully launch new artists and engage with a growing audience of fans in the region. Mohamed Rifi, winner of X Factor Arabia 2013, will join them to give some insights on how this experience helped him accelerate his career.
Speakers from key industry players such as Sacem, BMI, Music Ally, Times Music, Nokia and Orange, Shazam, Saavn, Anghami amongst others are also planned to share their knowledge and experiences.

"When this idea came to us, it seemed obvious that Midem would be the best positioned to curate the b2b side of the tradeshow. I have been going to Midem for over twenty years, and remember the honour it was for me to be elected "Midem Man of the Year" in 1990! Midem has always been and remains the first place to start the year for any music professional who wants to do business."
