Shadow Beats: Pet Conspiracy + 8actagon Projects Curated Experience
Shadow Beats, a live sensory performance and exhibition, will include Pet Conspiracy's sixth live solo show and a photography + film experience curated by 8actagon Projects
On Friday, December 13, 2013 at the famed Beijing venue, Yugong Yishan, the independent electro band Pet Conspiracy will collaborate for the first time with the newly established curatorial team 8actagon Projects to present a unique experience stimulating both the visual and auditory senses, ultimately heightening the overall viewer state, whether physical or nonphysical. The duality of the mind and body is irrefutable -- without the physical vehicle of the body, the mind and its non-physical existence ceases to exist. Yet without the mind, the body is merely reduced to an lifeless object. The five human senses are therefore critical to connecting the physical with non, as the eyes, ears, nose, fingers and tongue connect the mind to non-physical experiences -- ones that induce thought, imagination, creativity and spontaneous reaction. A play on mind-body dualism, Shadow Beats attends to the visual and auditory senses to bring the audience a fully dualistic experience.
Utilizing new lasers to create a visually shocking performance that will accompany Pet's electro music, the lights, or shadows created are representative of beyond that which is physically present. Looking back into the past, the photography exhibition will explore the story of an independent Chinese band's founding and evolution through the photographic works of seven China-based photographers. The exhibition will include works that cover six years of live concerts from around the world as well as a screening of the band's 2011 European tour documentary film. Specific works will be for sale.
The photography exhibition will open at 8:00 pm; live show at 10pm. 80RMB for presale tickets purchased before 8pm, 100RMB for tickets after 8pm.
