iQIYI Launches New Android And Kindle Fire Based Apps Featuring Dolby Audio
"Dolby zone," up to 150 new Dolby Audio encoded TV shows, movies, and sporting events
Dolby Laboratories and iQIYI, a subsidiary of Baidu and one of the largest Internet and mobile video service providers in China, announced that iQIYI's new Android and Kindle Fire apps will feature a dedicated "Dolby zone," with up to 150 new Dolby Audio encoded TV shows, movies, and sporting events with more natural and lifelike mobile entertainment sounds added each month.
"More and more consumers are demanding a better mobile entertainment experience. By delivering high-quality audio from Dolby, we can deliver the best entertainment experience and differentiate our service from competitors," said Xianghua Yang, Vice President of Mobile Business and Paid Users Operation, iQIYI.
This launch marks a major milestone in the collaboration between iQIYI and Dolby. In September 2013, iQIYI started enabling Dolby Audio encoding in iQIYI's existing content workflow. It was soon followed by the launch of the iQIYI and Dolby Joint Test Center, facilitating adoption of Dolby Audio by over-the-top (OTT) television and set-top-box manufacturers to help them ensure a premium audio entertainment experience for consumers.
"Dolby is delighted to work further with iQIYI to extend the premium entertainment content experience with Dolby Audio to the mobile space," said Mike Chao, Managing Director, Greater China, Dolby Laboratories. "This is a success for the entire mobile ecosystem. Consumers in China using mobile devices featuring Dolby technology can now expect the best 'on the go' experiences with iQIYI's Dolby zone."
