Huawei to License NQ Mobile's Music Radar for Ring Back Tone (RBT) Services and Apps
Expands international reach of NQ Mobile's popular audio discovery technology following rapid user adoption and reaches a new milestone of 6 million searches per day
NQ Mobile announced Huawei will integrate NQ Mobile's Music Radar audio search and discovery technology into Huawei's ring back tone (RBT) services and applications. The Huawei contract, which follows agreements with other high-profile companies including China Mobile, TTPod and Kugou in China, will significantly expand monetization of NQ's technology through consumers purchasing the songs they hear as part of Huawei's RBT services.
As the largest RBT supplier in the world, Huawei selected NQ Mobile's revolutionary, content-based music information retrieval (MIR) application for its ability to offer a more streamlined user experience and increased accuracy, which will increase customer satisfaction and sales through IVR and applications.
Available for both Android and iOS platforms, Music Radar has generated rapid organic user acquisition while attracting high-profile partners in China. The innovative audio recognition technology, which can even discover matching audio files from input that is sung or hummed, has been licensed by China Mobile for their Migu mobile music service brand, as well as integrated with China's largest music players TTPod and Kugou. Music Radar officially launched in October 2013, and has reached a new daily search query milestone of more than 6 million searches per day.
"The rapid growth and market interest in Music Radar is a testament to our belief that applications and services for entertainment search and discovery are increasingly important as our smartphones evolve into portable entertainment devices," stated co-Founder and co-CEO of NQ Mobile, Henry Lin. "Music Radar is just one example of what we can do with the underlying audio recognition technology, and NQ is well positioned to build on its success to meet the rapidly changing technology needs globally while becoming more useful and integrated with our partners and end consumers."
