Artist: Six Mile Bridge
Title: No Reason
Label: Loose Goose Productions

What's this?, Celtic music, bold and old? As advertised, that is exactly what it is. If you like world music this will really be your cup of tea. Six Mile Bridge is well known for their incredible live sets, so I can understand why this recording is so good. This a five-piece band that uses up to twenty instruments to create their music. Once you hear this music you will understand why so many instruments are used. There are far to many resources that are dipped into musically to even attempt to stick this group in a genre. They create their own category by throwing all the rules out the window. A persuasive and charming blend of rock, traditional celtic, spiced with varying degrees and flavors of roots music that quickly becomes a real earful. They come up with a very interesting and unique sound that has a crossover appeal that really pulls you right in.

Here are the players that make up Six Mile Bridge:

Andres Johannson is a real guitar wizard. To actually keep up with the complexity of musical changes and variations that take place during a song, he easily earns his place amongst the guitar gods. He also has some marvelous production talents in the studio that help to make the musical magic a reality for us all to hear.

Maggie Drennon adds her dreamy flute and vocals to the mix to take you to land of enchantment and wonder. She also plays the fiddle and bass guitar with adeptness.

Frances Newton plays the bouzoki, mandolin and acoustic guitar to add a seamless layer of sound that envelopes you and gentle nudges you to pay attention to everything else that's happening.

Sean Cunningham plays some amazing bagpipes. I have never heard bagpipes sound so rhythmic and appealing before. If there is such a thing as bagpipes that rock, you will discover them here. Sean also adds other instruments that require a good set of lungs.

Dave Blanton probably has the toughest job of all, drumming. To be able to keep a steady beat to the diverse array of vocals and instrumentation that this group utilizes is truly an amazing feat. The only group member that doesn't sing is the drummer, and no wonder.

This is the kind of music you can listen to over and over and always discover something new happening. If it's a subtle nuance or as obvious as the nose on your face, there is always something going on that will get your attention. "No Reason" is just incredible music that will have you wondering how they managed to pull this whole thing off. There is just so much to absorb and enjoy when experiencing music on a level such as this.

There will be more than Irish eyes smilin' once the word gets out about this group.
