Soundbuzz Partners with EMI Recorded Music
Soundbuzz, a digital music distributor, announced a strategic agreement
with a global record company that holds a presence in over 70 countries, EMI
Music Asia, a division of EMI Recorded Music.
Many benefits will be reaped from the deal; Soundbuzz will receive EMI's
services in connection with it's online music business, and EMI will have
access to Soundbuzz's international network which spans across Southeast
Asia, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Australia to promote, market, and sell
digital music with security. EMI expects its
download trial to expand into the Asia-Pacific area by the end of this year.
The program was launched last July in North America.
"This is a landmark moment for the Asian music industry as Soundbuzz
becomes the only digital music retailer in Asia to partner with a global
record label for the sale of secured downloadable content for digital
distribution throughout the Asia-Pacific region," stated Sudhanshu
Sarronwala, co-Founder and CEO, Soundbuzz. "EMI has seized upon new media
and becomes one of the leading companies in this area. The reason we have
partnered with EMI is because they have shown themselves to be very creative
and forward-thinking here."
Matthew Alison, President and CEO, EMI Music Asia says "Our agreement
with Soundbuzz is a recognition of its leading position in the digital music
space in Asia. We look forward to capitalizing on Soundbuzz's leading market
position, strong brand and consumer knowledge in the Asian region for the
distribution of our downloadable music."
All downloads of EMI artists' music purchased through Soundbuzz's network
will be secured using Microsoft's Media Rights Manager, which ensures
payments to the correct and necessary parties involved.
