Title: 9,000,000 Beats per Minute
Label: Aaron Ave. Records
Genre: Rock
Audio: You! (RA)
Brad Thompson & the Undulating Band is an interesting enigma. They're certainly rock, but they've got that fluid feeling of alternative in the bloodstream; the sort that wouldn't've created them 20 years ago. 90s. Not 80s. Yet their energy transcends a time and space ratio. Actually their energy goes straight to the clubs. Songs like the excitable 'You!' really need an audience in order to help things get doubly out of hand.
Strangely or not, considering the titles 'Tell Me' seems to continue the thoughts and melodic rock tune started in 'You!' There's still a strain of screaming, a loud but controlled guitar, with backing vocals that blend so well, you can't tell they're there until they finish with the notes.
Brad Thompson wrote the majority of what you hear, yep, and he's the guy on vocals and guitars. 'It May Take Time' releases some of Brad's smooth-sided voice work, with an elegant tune hiding behind him, and you also Have to love the understated backing vocals which almost sound like pleasant sound effects. But they ain't.
Tight band. 4 guys and a few guests. Quite easy to see why they've got bags of fans. These 13 tunes should keep a lot of people satisfied for a while. Their studio work is straight professional. Playing and mixing is equal to the big companies as well. 'Twas a pleasure to listen.
