*No Tyme Records has announced a Double LP by the Zakary Thaks, scheduled for release this month. The release will include the Texas band's "complete output, alternate takes, live cuts, and one previously unreleased track ('Younger Than Yesterday')." Also included is a booklet that will detail the entire band's history via an interview with leader Chris Gerniottis, and never before seen photos and memorabilia. The first 100 copies sold will also include a videotape showing '67 live/studio footage shot in 16mm. The label also is promising a series of garage 45 single reissues from the master tapes, of "Like What Me Worry" by 006, the Treez "You Lied to Me Before" one by the Facts of Life, and a 7" by the Paragons. Add to the above an LP by the Savages, Volume 4 of their excellent "Let's Dig 'Em Up" compilation series, and another U.S. only "Let's Dig 'Em Up' volume comprised of '65-'67 acetates, and No Tyme Records is quickly becoming a major player in the '60's garage reissue scene! *Available now is "Nuggetsmania: A Guide to The CD Compilations." Written by Massimo Lucchini, this book reportedly compiles 99% of all the compilations of U.S. garage & psych bands available on compact disc, and includes complete track listings. It's getting nearly impossible to keep up with all the current releases, so this book is sure to be out-of-date shortly. Nevertheless, it should prove invaluable for the majority of the pre-2001 releases. For further information, write to me at

*According to a post by Bryan Thomas to the Bobby Fuller list, 2001 should shape up to be an exciting year for fans of the band. Del-Fi Records has "recently secured a new deal with Paulstarr in the U.S. and one of the first new releases will be a Bobby Fuller Four 'Best of' title. The Bobby Fuller live CD that we had planned to put out is still on the back-burner, but it may yet see the light of day." Also, according to Bryan, "keep an eye peeled for the following books and various other items to hit the stores sometime next year ... Bob Keane's autobiography, 'The Oracle of Del-Fi: The Bob Keane Story' ... A new book on Bobby Fuller (title and other info are not known, and this project is very hush-hush right now) ... (and) a Bobby Fuller VH-1 'Behind the Music' type documentary."

*Incidentally, there is also a chapter on Bobby Fuller in Richie Unterberger's new book, "Urban Spacemen & Wayfaring Strangers: Overlooked Innovators and Eccentric Visionaries of '60s Rock." Intended as a sequel to the author's earlier book, "Unknown Legends of Rock & Roll," other chapters focus on the Electric Prunes, Rationals, Fugs, and Beau Brummels, among others. In the works is another book titled "Turn! Turn! Turn!: The 1960s Folk-Rock Revolution." According to Unterberger's web site, "the innovations of giants such as the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Simon & Garfunkel, the Lovin' Spoonful, and Bob Dylan will be covered, of course. But so will the contributions of lesser-known heroes, from Tim Buckley, Fred Neil, and Ian & Sylvia to the labels, producers, session musicians, managers, and fans that helped make the music happen." *Gear Fab promises two excellent compilations for Spring release. Scheduled for March is "Psychedelic States: Florida in The 60's Volume 2." Featured bands include The Tropics, The Birdwatchers, Ron & The Starfires, The Deep Six, Plant Life, Rockin' Roadruners, The Barons, The Hustlers, Cosmic Camel, The Mind's Eye, The Cellar Dwellers, The Missing Links, The Burgundy Blues, The Lost Generation, and The Chain Reaction. Scheduled for April is the fourth installment of the Louisville Music Series: "14 By Request: Volumes I &II." Spanning the years 1960 through 1967, the 2 CD set will feature The Rubgys, The Merseybeats (Pre-NRBQ), The Carnations, The Trendells, Soul Inc., The Sultans, The Monarchs, Cosmo, and others. For additional Gear Fab releases, go to

*In December, Sundazed announced that "We've just got the green light to reissue the first three mind-blowing albums from the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band: 'Part One'; 'Vol. 2'; and 'A Child's Guide to Good and Evil.' This legendary Los Angeles foursome--Michael Lloyd, Shaun Harris, Danny Harris and Bob Markley--blended the lysergic trippiness of Summer of Love-era San Francisco with the brilliant musical experiments of Frank Zappa's Mothers and Arthur Lee's Love and created three masterpieces that have become the most requested reissues within recent memory." *A German label by the name of Tinfoil Dafodil has released a CD of the Merry-Go-Round's debut album. It includes a cheap reproduction of the album cover, and no additional liner notes, but will have to do until a legitimate release finally sees the light of day . . . Special Thanks to Bryan Thomas, and Martha and Vic at No Tyme Records.
