Lizard Festival '99
For those who are spiritually inclined or just love music or want to
bask in a glorious celebration of both, then I recommend getting
yourself to the beautiful south of England for the now annual Lizard
Festival '99, this week's MusicDish Spotlight.
Lizard...earth's funkiest eclipse party!
At mid-morning on 11th august 1999 the shadow of the moon will
sweep the earth for the last time this millennium, bringing to
Cornwall the most dramatic light show known to mankind, a Total
solar eclipse!
This spectacular cosmic event has not been seen in the UK for
over 70 years and will not be repeated until the year 2090 and
over a million visitors will flock to Cornwall to see it happen.
Now, from the very heart of the eclipse zone and one of the best
eclipse-viewing locations in the world comes Lizard '99...Earth's
funkiest eclipse party.
This epic event will mix some of the freshest and grooviest live music
ever with a host of funky activities and a truly relaxing vibe.
Set on a beautiful sunny Cornish Peninsula with beach access,
Lizard '99 promises the total experience...cutting
edge, sensory, funky and fun.
The Lizard Peninsula is situated between Falmouth and Penzance in
Cornwall in the Southwest of England. The most southernly spot in all of
England, the Lizard is a place of enormous natural beauty, sun, surf and
golden beaches.
This year's event will realise a vision that began with the 1997
lizard festival: to play host to the world's ultimate Eclipse party!
Years of preparation will culminate this summer in a week of solar
eclipse mania showcasing the very finest musicians, performers and
artists of our generation.
Quite simply, Lizard'99 will be a truly spectacular holiday
experience*cutting edge, cosmopolitan, funky and fun.
Everything you need to know about Lizard'99 is on their website located
at http://www.lizard.net ... Tickets, line-up, the
eclipse, facilities,
activities, workshops and much more...
The heart and soul of the Lizard experience and the core of their site
is the Global Village... where you will find all the vital ingredients
of the Lizard '99 experience with sights, sounds and colours from across
the globe.
With a massive outdoor cinema arena and global fresh cuisine, huge
tented entertainment stages, laid back jazz cafés, leading-edge
cybertent...the craic of an Irish bar to the fun of the Big Wheel or
bungee jump; from reiki healing to kids basket weaving... Lizard '99
excites the senses and soothes the soul...You'll see striking wigwams
nestled against real espresso bars, bustling markets leading to Arabian
bazaars, the sci-fi FutureZone merges into Celtic craft workshops and
storytelling. Walkabout theatre threads past groovy bars and funky
cafes...expect the unexpected at every turn!
Over 15 different music venues will offer some of the freshest and most
entertaining programming ever seen in the UK... from headliners in the
awesome 15,000 capacity Kayam to intimate local acoustic sets under
the stars...from world music and mega dance acts to disco, indie,
pop, reggae, jazz and blues...showcasing some of the very finest
musicians, performers and artists of our generation.
There will be sixteen tented stages of music and arts offering a superb
multi-cultural experience...a true festival line-up including Pop, folk,
theatre, blues, comedy, jazz, story telling, DJs, circus...a

amazing Solar Eclipse and experience the vibe at Lizard '99. Maybe
they'll send me as a correspondent to report on the live webcast that
will be happening starting Saturday August 7th at 1pm GMT (you can log on

hear about it from
those who were lucky enough to experience it.
Don't miss it if you can. Emma says it will be the coolest!
