Waterdown Hits the Road
Waterdown is gearing up for their first U.S.
tour. Recently signing with Victory Records, this
German born band will be hitting the clubs with
Thursday and Drowningman throughout July and August.
Waterdown offers up a unique mix of musical styles.
They have vocals that span the gamete from melodic too
in your face aggressiveness and an instrumental impact
that shows that the genres can mix successfully. I
recently had the opportunity to ask Waterdown's front
man Ingo a few questions regarding their upcoming tour
and their unique sound.
"never kill the boy on the first date" to be released on may, 8th 2001.
[Kerry] What are you looking forward to the most on the
upcoming U.S. tour?
Ingo The best thing about touring is meeting new
interesting people and making new friends, so we're
definitely looking forward to that, and we can't wait
to see the guys in Grade again and meeting the guys of
Thursday, as we really love their new record. We are
very excited to have the opportunity to tour the U.S.,
when we started Waterdown in early 2000 we did not
expect that to happen this soon!
[Kerry] What do you feel influences Waterdown's unique
musical style the most?
Ingo That's hard to say. We all have different and
diverse musical preferences, and putting all those
influences together Waterdown is just what comes out.
We listen to many different bands from Jimmy Eat World
to Saves the Day to At The Gates. And we're influenced
by everything happening around us, so we really can't
say what influences us the most.
[Kerry] What keeps Waterdown focused and driven?
Ingo Like most other hard core and punk bands,
Waterdown for us is a way to escape the boredom of
everyday life, and it is a way to express our feelings
about things we feel bad about in our lives, in
personal relationships and the capitalist society we
live in. And of course we have a lot of fun playing
shows and meeting interesting people.
