"Russia, China and Brazil are the world's three leading pirate marketplaces
and there alone, the music industry loses more than $1 billion per year,"
the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was told by the Recording Industry
Association of America (RIAA) during a hearing on international and domestic
intellectual property theft.
IFPI, the international association representing the recording industry
worldwide, currently estimates that the sale of pirate recordings exceeds
$4.2 billion and that this doesn't include losses due to "Internet piracy",
