Michel Camilo - Triangulo Telarc
Artist: Michel Camilo (www.ejn.it/camilo)
Title: Triangulo
Label: Telarc (www.telarc.com)
Genre: Jazz
Michel Camilo has come into his own on "Triangulo," a thriving cultural melting pot of Latin rhythms backed by stalwart players Anthony Jackson (bass) and Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez (drums).
Camilo hails from the Dominican Republic, and his roots and heritage come through his piano playing splendidly. I had to listen to this CD several times before I could hear all the nuances and gentle subtleties in Camilo's artistry. While most of the time I was invigorated by the beat and rhythm of the music, I couldn't help but feel the passion and expressiveness of this man's heart and soulfulness. You see its more than a note or phrase, it's about playing the music from within. In each and every note of his music symmetry of time and place can be found. His friends also are very adept musicians that are able to blend and form the piano player's musical forays brilliantly.
A setting of cultural diversity brought forth at a brisk pace is what you will find steadily moving towards a mountain of musical achievement on this pulsating rhythm filled excursion. This is all very tastefully done with the DSD (Direct Stream Digital) recording method making all the difference in the world. Telarc is always one step ahead of their contemporaries by not only offering the finest quality artists in the world to its listeners, they make sure they are recorded in the best possible conditions with the best technology available today. Camilo, Hernandez, and Jackson put it all together on this outstanding slice of contemporary Latin jazz.
