Sony opens disc plant with 'copy control' in Shanghai, China

Sony and local partner the Synergy Group have opened a disc plant in
Songjiang, Shanghai - the first CD replication facility with a western
ownership authorized by the Chinese government.
The plant is operating as a part of Sony's Optical Disc network with
existing production facilities in US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Austria,
India, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan.
Significantly, the companies say, "Up to date copy control solutions such as
key2audioTM and SecuROMTM are offered. As times evolve, Shanghai Epic will
increase the capacity and add new technologies to this plant. This can
include DVD and other new formats, recordable media, mastering technology,
local area networks, digital storage and broadband solutions for content
hosting and distribution."
