It's hard to listen to music concrete pieces and decide if you're picking up
on the artists' true intentions or message. What I do like about this disc,
however, is that the music changes with every listen, depending on what your
listening environment is like. The disc is full of odd noises-snatches from
Japanese television shows, conversations, tape loops, high-pitched
electronic whines, both random and synchronized electronic beats-that
somehow don't command the listener's full attention and leaves room for
other real-world sounds-traffic, people talking outside, birds-to blend
perfectly into the mix. Considering how irritating and caustic the sounds
used in this recording would be on their own, the combinations used here are
actually quite relaxing, almost soothing.
