*Three of Australia's biggest rock acts - that is, The Vines, Jet and The Living End, will take on the US and Canada during March and April as they co-headline the 'Aussie Invasion' tour. This is the first time since the '80s, when Midnight Oil, INXS & Men At Work broke in the US, that there has been such a strong Oz rock tour de force. The tour kicks off on March 4 in Texas and concludes at the legendary Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on April 14.
*After almost seven years of being on the shelves, Something For Kate's debut album 'Elsewhere For 8 Minutes' has finally reached gold sales (35,000 units). Fresh from their recent shows with David Bowie, the band will soon be heading overseas to embark on an international tour as well as other promotional duties.
*Oz rockers Grinspoon have just signed a co-management deal for the UK and Western Europe with established UK manager Jon White. White has had a wealth of experience in the UK music industry, from managing Pete Townshend to consulting on a variety of issues for record companies Polydor, EMI & BMG. The deal will see White teaming up with the bands Australian management, Gregg Donovan & Maureen Shaw. A new Grinspoon album, their fourth, is due out later this year.
*Stomp has announced that it will be the exclusive Australian distributor for Tigerbeat 6 - the label founded by clever electro artists Kid 606 and Cex in Oakland California. Tigerbeat 6 has become synonymous with the offbeat side of electro with a roster of artists including the likes of Blectum from Blechdom, Stars As Eyes, Lesser, Electric Company, DJ/Rupture, Gold Chains, Dat Politics, Dwayne Sodahberk, Numbers and of course Kid 606 and Cex. The first release to be distributed by Stomp will be from rock'n'roll trio Numbers with 'In My Mind All The Time', which is out on March 8th.
*Tune in to Channel [V] during March to catch 'The Secret Life Of Bus' - that is, loads of unseen footage from the Billabong Bus which motored its way down the East Coast of Australia last month and took live TV, music and pro skating to thousands of regional and metro fans on the street. This brand new half hour series will trace the lives, loves, let-downs and laughter of the bands and [V] presenters & crew as they make their way from Townsville to Tasmania on the Channel [V] Detour. The show will begin on Monday March 1st at 7pm EST and will run each Monday to Thursday throughout March.
